I did a bit of searching and found a few uses for slime balls, none of which tickled my fancy. Didn't find any other topics with this idea, so here you go.
My idea is rather simple: poison arrows.
The idea is that either you can craft arrows with slime balls to make them poisoned, or slime balls would simply be removed from your inventory as you fire (just like with arrows now).
They would add more damage to your bow, maybe double (you only have so many slime balls so it's a limited amount of shots)
To balance this, slimes should be a bit tougher (I think they're relatively easy to fight as of now but then I've only fought one :tongue.gif:) and killing off 1 huge slime yield 0-128 drops, so you're likely set for a while, haha.
This adds progression, how? Well in the same way you have to kill spiders to get the bow, you have to kill slimes to get poison. The idea is that you overcome a challenge and are tougher because of it.
Let me now what you think and we'll see if we can't tweak this idea to perfection :smile.gif:
Why not? Sure slimes don't poison you, but maybe they would if it got in a wound, or maybe it poisons mobs (and humans are immune).
Or how about acid? What do slimes do other than just bump into you? How could that hurt you other than with acid or some sort of corrosive effect? Or whatever the heck it's doing it hurt you, why couldn't a chunk of it do the same if it's slathered onto an arrow?
Because I've fought them, and they have had no poison effect whatsoever.
I'll redirect you to my above post, there.
In addition to that there are hundreds of other explanations you could conceive for why slime balls are poison but not slimes. Maybe their insides are poison but not their outsides. Maybe exposure to air makes the slime balls poison while slimes have a protective film. Maybe when added to the flint on arrows it makes a reaction that creates poison. Just be creative.
Anyway, I think slimes =/= poison is a weak point against this idea. Other than that, do you have any qualms with the idea, ygdrasel?
