If there is one thing Minecraft is sorely lacking, it is mobs that are rare enough to be worth searching for; for the most part, you can have encountered every mob in the game within a few Minecraft days, if you're willing to go hunting for wolves in their special biomes. This makes it so that all of the mobs become old and stale, offering nothing new or fantastic to gameplay; this is why peope create monster traps, because fighting monsters becomes boring, and they spawn frequently enough that these traps are effective. It is my hope to rectify this.
Roc
Hostility: Passive, but aggressive should the chicks come in harm's way.
Physical characteristics: A very large, red-feathered bird. By large, I mean about twice the size of the player. The chicks are smaller, without red feathers - they're pink and tiny.
Characteristics: The Roc is an extremely rare mob; you would be lucky to see one even once in a Minecraft world. When they do appear, they roost on high mountains, building a nest until the time is right. When it starts to rain, the Roc will shriek and lay 3 eggs, each of which will hatch into baby rocs after 1 Minecraft day. The chicks will slowly grow larger until, after 2 Minecraft weeks, they become the adult Rocs. Obviously, because this process takes so long, neither the adults nor the chicks will despawn.
Should the player choose to begin attacking the chicks (which offer no drops when slain), the adult Roc will appear and become aggressive, picking the player up and then dropping him/her from great heights. Otherwise, however, the Roc is passive.
The Roc loves to eat cows and pigs, however, and it would not be uncommon to see the Roc flying off with one of them towards its roost, where the chicks will then attack it and kill it.
Drops: Rocs would obviously drop numerous feathers, in addition to the rare chance of a golden eggs (Rocs supposedly laid golden eggs, you see, in ancient mythology). These golden eggs would serve as a natural chicken spawner when placed under sunlight on mossy cobblestone. So while these eggs could serve as providing an infinite source of feathers - in addition to just looking neat in your home - you would have to have gone to a dungeon and survived to get the spawning to actually occur, in addition to a)finding a Roc and :cool.gif: slaying it and having it actually drop a golden egg.
As with any suggestion, if you like it, please comment, and if not, try to keep trolling at a minimum and at least state why you dislike this idea, or what you think could use some changing.
This Idea I think is a miss. The golden egg would make feathers even more easy to get. Also since mobs despawn would the nest stay or disappear with the roc. I think mobs only last like half a day before they despawn.

The nest would last as long as the baby rocs did; so, basically, until they all become adult rocs. And the babies wouldn't have a chance to despawn until then, either.

Bad idea is bad, re-formulate it and come back.
You know, I'm just going to ignore you because you're offering nothing as to HOW it should be reformulated; thus, you are no more than an annoying troll.

1) Don't quote the entire OP; that could get you banned/warned. Just a friendly warning. :tongue.gif:
2) What the hell? I understand the "Don't like... sorry", but what the hell are you saying in the first sentence?

There's a dinosuar mod called JurrasiCraft, and I guess he thinks this should belong in that mod.
Great idea by the way
