I think that deep underground, near the adminium layer, there should be obsidian deposits underground. This could provide an additional obstacle, as people may want to mine around them. Currently obsidian can be challenging to obtain since it will often fall right into lava. This should be no exception, and these deposits should have lava in them. This would provide even more of a reason to mine around them.

You can already find obsidian naturally underground, near lava and water sources.
And it's easy enough to get. Just dump a bucket of water onto a pool of lava.
Your avatar is creepy, bro...
But yeah, you can already find obsidian naturally. Sometimes when you're mining, you'll hit a cave with water pouring onto lava, creating obsidian.
If there were random Obsidian veins in the ground, it would make it much harder to mine. If you don't want obsidian and you're trying to find diamonds, it will be annoying mining through any obsidian you have to in order to continue your shaft.

Considering Obsidian is volcanic glass, independantly existing deposits of obsidian would make no sense.
They would have to be connected to existing deposits of lava underground for them to make any sense.
Considering that all of the above factors are already fulfilled in caves that exist right now, with underground lava and water connecting, this idea is useless.
