In the latest patch we added shift clicking into and out of a chest. Can this same idea be used for taking items out of the furnace and the crafting table.

Are you really that lazy that you can't move TWO items into TWO boxes?
It has nothing to do with laziness, it has more to do with efficiency. If I have a furnace open, there's only a small set of operations I can do there. It's much faster (relatively) to shift + Click to move an item in to the smelter than to drag, especially if I am working on a large project with several furnaces and want to get back to building rather than dragging and dropping.
It would be nice to be able to Shift + Click to move coal from your inventory to the fuel source box automatically, since you won't put coal or charcoal anywhere else (the same with a bucket of lava, wood planks, etc). Items in the finished product box should be able to Shift + Clicked to move them directly in to your inventory.
The same should apply to the workbench. I would have to arrange them in the order I need afterwards, but I would rather shift+click to move the materials I need in to the box, and then arrange them from there.
The point for crafting tables and furnaces would only be for taking items out because there are too many places for it to go in and the game should not organize craftable items for you.
WOW IN THE TWO SECONDS IT TOOK ME TO DRAG AND DROP MY COAL I MISSED OUT ON PLACING ONE WHOLE BLOCK HERP DERP
Very good point, allow me to elaborate. :smile.gif:
You say it took two seconds for you to drag and drop the coal. With a Shift + Click, it takes a mere half of a second. In the two seconds it takes to drag and drop, one could place 4 stacks of coal in to 4 furnaces with shift + click functionality. That's a 400% increase in efficiency for the user.
Across the user base of minecraft players, that adds up to a lot of saved time in mundane, genuinely not fun tasks, and more time for doing things the player actually wants to do!
What about wood? That can go in either the fuel box or the smelting box.
True, but both wood and wood plank have the same burning time. It doesn't make much sense to use wood as a fuel since you can turn it in to 4 planks and get 4 times the burning time. You can use wood planks to smelt wood in to Charcoal, but not the other way around.
In my opinion, it would make more sense to Shift + Click wood planks to auto-drop to fuel, and wood would auto-drop to the smelter.
