Currently when wood gets struck by lightning it will be set on fire and that fire will spread unless the rain puts it out. Lets say that just to make people happy when lightning strikes a piece of wood it can burn out but it can't spread. Or let's add a new block that would involve mixing a piece of wood with something else that already exists to make a block of glazed wood that cannot be burned out.
How about the creation of a lightning rod block that can be placed on a wooden structure? The lightning rod could draw lightning away from the wood, and make it harmlessly strike the rod, saving the house.
This could become especially useful if an idea such as a portable redstone battery every became a reality. In which case, a lightning rod could be linked to a battery. A lightning strike would charge the battery, which could supply power to other objects for x-amount of time before needing a recharge. Like real rechargable batteries, they can only be used so many times before the battery wears out and becomes unusable.
I have thought about that too, and it would be nice to add both, but my creation is a sky walk above the clouds where rain can't put it out. One of my sections is made of wood, proposing a problem and it is kind of unclear how big of an object a single lightning rod could count for.
My structure is above the clouds where lighting can strike but rain can't.
Then the lightning is unrealistic, hav u ever heard of lightning above the sky's? I don't....
FIX IT NOTCH!
Agreed. Since 90% of lightning is caused by the atmospheric disturbances caused by storm clouds, it doesn't make any sense for lighting to do that.

If I recall correctly, if you use wood slabs (half blocks) or stairs, they do not catch on fire like a plain wooden block does. Using these to line your roof would essentially fix the issue (if the issue is indeed your roof catching on fire).

And the fire can spread, if it is hit at the end of a storm. I have seen this reported elsewhere on this forum.
