Why do we need to pay to have a server it is very annoying.
why cant you just type in the server name and start a server?
i want to play with my freinds but it is very hard to finda good server.
Thread locked, anyone with a fast enough computer (or enough money to rent one) can run a server, for more information have a look at the server administration section. :smile.gif:

Well Rickeno, remember that a server requires memory. Not storage, which you probably refer to as memory, but RAM. You could always run a server on your own computer, but you might not have enough RAM to do that as well as run other programs, like Minecraft. For this reason, companies sell servers. Some of them, like Brohoster, have excellent service, and really, $4/month isn't that much. It would be completely impractical and stupid for Notch to have a server farm, which would cost him electricity, cooling, internet, and all of the various costs that a serve farm entails just to be able to give away a free service. As rich as he may be off of MC, that would be a terrible financial decision.
You could collect coins off of the ground and get over $4/month. You might even get lucky and find a $20 and be able to pay for the server for five months. If you are unable to earn $4/month, try hosting a server yourself. It might just work.
Edit: The server readme is in whatever folder you installed the minecraft server program into.
And it shows. If you don't have the money, tough cookies. If you don't have the know-how, tough cookies. The folks up at support will be happy to help you, but you ought to be more mature about asking for help. Calling people idiots is, frankly, idiotic.
If you want the bare basic guidelines, they're literally on http://www.minecraft.net/download.jsp. But for more in-depth, look to the extracted files.

Had you read the server readme, you'd know that. Certain servers ask for payment to manage operating costs.
Please lock.

Stop shouting.
Also, it's
"You idiot, I am 11."
When you call someone an idiot, generally a good idea to not look like one while doing so.
