All right so Lightning was just implemented to the 1.5 beta. Pretty exciting since we get snow back and some new weather. Supposedly when lightning hits a pig, the said pig turns into a zombie pigman. I really like this idea and it got me thinking about lighting. so here are my ideas:
LIghting strike probability: This would raise the chance of lightning to hit a tree or a iron block. The higher up these are the more likely they will get hit. Also the larger the quantity, the higher the chance. If a tree is hit then it will catch on fire (duh.)
Conductivity: This goes along with lightning hitting metal. If two metal blocks are touching then the lightning is "transferred." This also will work if lightning hits a metal block and that block is connected to redstone. However lightning cannot be transferred through a metal block, to redstone, and back into a metal block. If lightning hits redstone then the redstone will turn on for a long time but not permanently. Also if lightning hits rails then any minecarts will be boosted at high velocity.
Frankenstein-ing: This goes along with the conductivity idea. All mobs drop a certain item, so new recipes would be added such as...
=
set down this lifeless skeleton and connect it to redstone which is connected to say a tall tower of iron blocks (which has a high probability of being struck) and the lightning travels through to the creature, creating a friendly mob, no matter the mob(so the creeper would be friendly)
I just thought this would be cool and I wanted to get it out there. I'm no modder but this seems like it would be very difficult, but if someone made this a mod I would explode. These are just minor ideas, there is so much more that could be done. If anyone has suggestions or wants to make this be implemented, leave a comment. I have no intent on this however, just would be cool if this became something big or someone made a banner.

P.S. it's L-I-G-H-T-N-I-N-G... you forgot the "N" after the "T" so you wrote "lighting" the whole time.
Thank you, I didn't see that
