I don't know if this has been suggested yet, so don't hate
on me. Just throwing this out there
What if dispensers had optimal things it could shoot out?
In my idea, Dispensers would have a 3x3 grid, with the
middle part shaded red. The red square in the middle adds some
kind of new property or Dispension method to the thing they
drop/shoot, and would be called the "Perk" square. The 8
squares surrounding the "perk" square are just the Dispension
squares. They're the items that get dropped/shot out of the
dispenser
Flaming Items
When putting Flint and Steel in the perk square, all items
that are dispensed are put on fire. That means that arrows
will be flaming to make flaming arrows (could burn down
the blocks they hit), and if a flaming chicken egg is shot and
a chicken comes out, the chicken will catch on fire. TNT will
not be lit when it comes out. If a mob is hit with a shot flaming
object, they will be caught on fire
What it's good for : Starting forest fires, Defenses, Traps
Fired Items
When putting gunpowder into the perk square, all items shot
out off the Dispension squares will be fired instead. Arrows,
Snowballs, and Eggs will be fired 50% further than normal.
TNT fired out will be lit, and explode on impact. Every time
something is shot out of the Dispension square, 1 gunpowder
from the perk square is depleted.
What it's good for : Cannons, Defenses, Traps
Flowing Liquids ,
When one puts a bucket filled with water or lava in the perk
square, the dispenser will place 1 source of that liquid in front
of itself, and empty the bucket. If there are other items
surrounding the bucket, the bucket will always be dispensed
first, then the objects.
What it's good for : Lava traps, Flowing items down water, Defenses
Rapid Fire [Bow]
When a bow is placed in the perk square, as long as the dispenser
is receiving power, items will shoot out at rates of 1 item every
0.2 seconds. Only Arrows, Eggs, and Snowballs will be shot out.
All other items will be dropped.
What it's good for : Traps, Killing things quicker
Grapple {Fishing Rod]
When a fishing rod is placed in the perk square, the surrounding
8 squares darken, and no other items can be placed in those
squares. When the dispenser receives power, the fishing line will
be shot out. If it hits a mob or the player, it will attach, and stay,
unless they walk out of the distance that the line can hold (20 blocks?).
If the line has been cast , and the dispenser stops receiving power,
then whatever mob or player the line has hit will be pulled to the block
in front of the dispenser.
what it's good for : Pulling farm animals and mobs into a pit for
further "studies"
Dispense Minecart [Minetrack]
When one puts a mine cart in the perk square, mine carts in the
Dispension squares would be dispensed as a full mine cart. If there's
track in front of the dispenser, the mine cart will adjust itself onto the,
and will be given a nudge to compensate for 3-4 blocks. Mine carts with
chests or furnaces act the same way.
What it's good for : Mine cart stations
Play Record
If a jukebox is in front of a dispenser containing 1 or more records, and
the dispenser receives power, it will put a random record into the record
player. If the power is switched on and off for the dispenser, it will suck
back in the record thats in the record player, and insert a new random
record
What it's good for : Always being able to listen to music without having to
stop and start it again.
What it's good for : Land fishing for mobs or players.
Awesome dude. Could use more detail, thought, and pictures... But this idea has a LOT of potential. I mean, safer TNT cannons, better weapons for pirate ships, simpler lava traps... Anything is possible with old sp-- I mean this dispenser idea!

That was basically the whole reason I made this thread.
And I had other ideas, but at the time, I was making PIRATE SHIPS
