When I created my world, it was way before 1.5, and I built my base in a snow biome. Now I regret that, because every time it snows, I need to fill more than 3 inventories with snowballs just to clear part of my base of snow.
Now this can get very annoying as you could guess, so I have a suggestion. Snow that is generated from snowfall "melts" within 15-30 minutes of it falling. Therefore, you can harvest your snowballs or whatever, but your nice cleared out area isn't snowy permanently. Please, this needs fixed, I don't want an arctic base.

I don't want an arctic base.
What?
I'm sorry, but you built a base in the snow...And expected it to stay free of snow forever...
Bud, it's not that bad having snow on your base. Deal with it. Snow is awesome.
I built it some time during 1.2, way before weather was added, and I didn't want to travel 20 miles to get to my base.
Yes, I expected it to stay free of snow. I wasn't expecting my area to get recovered in snow, because I didn't know weather was even going to be in the game when I started my base.
Simple solution? Use torches. Lay them out in rows to melt the snow where you don't want it collecting. if you don't want torches everywhere that are visible, bury them one block deep. You'll need more torches that way though.
Tough break, but these things happen. Build a roof and make an igloo :tongue.gif:.

At least you have snow on your ice base...
It hasn't even RAINED for me yet!
If it's really that big a deal, I believe when water runs over snow it destroys it. Use a bucket.

How would I build a roof over my whole area?
