So this may have been suggested already. I'd be surprised if it wasn't. I looked in the archive link for April 13th but couldn't find it.

I say that if we can use dyes on wool to color it, why cant we do the same with planks? Right now I'm using planks to construct a model of my real life house. The outside of my house has a plank-like look, but it's white, not brown. It would be really useful if We had a bunch of different colored woods to make wooden buildings/creations look a little more realistic.
Anyways, I guess it couldn't hurt. But since if colored wood was added, suggestion for colored brick, maybe even stone would be next. So if this is added, it might as well be in the form of paint that can be used to color any kind of block. (Save things like water, of course.)

Taking trolling to a whole new level, one post at a time.
Colored wool already takes up too much space in terrain.png
Hmm.. I'm not a programmer, but wouldn't it be possible for Notch to just implement a code that makes it so when you use a certain dye on a piece of wool, it just changed the tint? Or does the code he use require that there be a permanent image of each in the terrain.png?

He would have to change terrain.png if there is a code that changed the coloring in-game then he should use it.

Yes/No?

I guess so. I wouldn't want to see EVERY block be color-able. But at the same time I don't want to make my house out of wool xD
