hey guys, i have a suggestion for dirt that is uncovered underground.
now before i get in depth in my idea, have any of you ever took a tarp, or some object with a large flat bottom, and set it outside on the grass for an extended period? if you have you know that when you take that away and expose the grass it has turned white due to a lack of sunlight.
now my idea.
so, wouldn't it be cool to be traveling through a cave system to stumble into a large cavern in where there is a large patch of white grass being sustained only be the stream of water running through it?
even if you dont like the idea of underground white grass, how about this.
you make a base, nice walls and a roof, and inside are trees and grass. now, overtime the tree leaves and the grass turns white, something like dirt on the surface turning to grass over time. this would be due to the lack of sunlight that would usually feed the plants.
even though it is minor and does necessarily effect game play, i think it would be awesome to walk into a huge underground (man made or otherwise) cavern only to see milky white fauna permeating the area.
Woops, wrong thread post.
I like the idea, but it is possible to find caves with grass in them and you are able to grow stuff under ground such as trees as stuff as long as they have enough space and any other requirements they may have, and it is possible to grow a tree almost anywhere if you have enough bonemeal for it. But I wouldn't limit the thought of just white grass and plants but why not a widen selection of species of plants? Such as apple trees, palms, and different colored grass or the ability to dye plants colors. That way, farmers and gardeners can make their perfect gardens.

Yes, it is a possible to make a grinder that records your kills done by you. It just like an exp system but only kills and loots. It is just the matter fo setting it up like I explain earlier. Everything is possible with programming, such as planetoid is a good example. It is just a puzzle piece and figuring it out. It all can be done, it is just that do you have th eknowledge and ability to program it.

What does this have to do with albino cave grass?!

"Minecraft? Realistic? Really? This is a game where you punch trees to get wood, you can make the wood into wooden planks in less than five seconds, and trees don't fall even if you remove a piece of the trunk from the middle. This is a game where animate corpses, giant spiders and exploding green terrorists emerge at night to hunt you down, farm animals run rampant across the countryside, and you can stop the flow of molten lava with a block of snow."
I kinda like this idea, because right now, Minecraft's caves are just too...dead..
You go into a real cave and tell me it's not dead. It's ment to be dead! It's a cave!
I think he means that there is nothing much, well moving or alive. Irl, caves support an ecosystem of bats, insects, bacteria, plants, and other cave thriving organisms. I agree with his idea on adding more to cave then just "Ooo, look a cave. There is some ores!" *Mines and walks off, never to bothering to go back to the cave again.*

Lol, love last reply. But if you think why he wants it, he wants the ability for life to grow underground, too. This doesn't make the caves dull and really they are still alive, but poorly healthy.

You can already gorw stuff underground. But not grass. And dead grass would make it even more dead.

What I meant was more like TheRedHum1 said. Most people enter caves only for adventure and ore.
Most caves are monotonous. The same stone, dirt, and occasional gravel really bores me. The idea of bleached grass/flora is one way to break up the monotony. Different rock types are another way.
Yes, most caves are dead. But, they have things to see. Structures, different rock types...
Btw the grass wouldn't be dead, just like grass is not dead if it does not receive sunlight for a while. the white hue is due to the plant not receiving sunlight and thus not being able to undergo photosynthesis. i did a project back in 8th grade where we planted 2 bean plants, one in the locker kept dark, and the other in the sun, kept .. sunny. both were kept watered. there where only two differences between them. the size ( sunlight=big) and the color.
but the size is like prohibited growth, so if you had saplings and you planted them underground, they would be Japanese gimps :tongue.gif:.
