I don't know about other people, but I love to use signs to label and decorate my base, and to mark territory in my mines and such on SMP and to prevent me from getting lost. I have noticed that they are a bit resource intensive right now. Sure, they look like signs when you craft them, but should it really take SIX whole blocks of wood to create a sign that is very thin and only takes up one block? It doesn't make any sense. Plus, six blocks and a stick is a lot of wood. with that I could almost create two pickaxes. And in the beginning of the game, nobody uses signs for this reason. Possible solutions? I thought about simply increasing the output, so the same crafting grid formula yields more signs... but then I realized that you can't stack signs for whatever reason (by the way, why shouldn't we be allowed to stack them?) So this means, either we should be able to create small stacks of only a few signs, or the crafting formula needs to be changed. I vote for this:

Not only is this the exact dimensions of the sign that you craft, but it makes more sense, resource wise. There's no reason signs should take so much wood.
And that is the modest suggestion from an old alpha account member (that recently created an account on this forum). Sorry if this has already been talked about, as I mentioned, I'm new here and I don't feel like reading through all the posts on this board. That would be lunacy.
Plus at least I've been civil, which is more than most people here can say...
signs take up a lot of wood dude, ever try making an Ethoslab style mob spawning ground? **** takes a LOT of wood to make the tons of signs needed, support
Two typical "just deal with it" responses and one approval. On this forum, I'll take that as an overwhelming success!
Yes, signs take up a lot of wood. One sign out of two logs? How does that make sense? The sign is only one block, and takes up a small portion of it. Also,I will not 'grow up,' clever guy, I will use less wood to make signs, even if I have to mod this in. :tongue.gif:

Sign =
You can make a sign from 2 logs. Trees are everywhere and easy to grow. They're not that hard to make unless you are lazy.
Grow up and punch some trees.
