Same with colored wool
Want blue?
WATER
Want red? LAVA
want green?
GRASS
...
Exactly, but they were added anyways for the people that DID want them. See my point? This recipe manual thing will come in handy to alot of people, and others may not even look at it. Don't bash on it for just having no want to use it.
EDIT: None of that was directly at YOU, srry if it seemed so
I think we don't need this. Maybe for the "Beginning recipe" part it would be ok, but it would just be better to have a multipurpose book editing technic, so once you find out a new recipe, you run to get your book of the shelf, and type

GSG
G = Gun powder, S = Sand
--------------
It would be more fun, because you would feel like your doing it yourself.

Good idea llama. Not what I was thinking, but yes, this could be part of writable books. Wich are already suggested, sadly.

I agree, should I add it to the main post?
That is not what I said. Now please excuse me, I must turn down "Angry German Kid." It's becoming a pain to listen to
For those of us with slower processors, running an internet browser and minecraft at the same time can slow down the game. To have a list of all previously used recipies in game, perhaps simply from a small button on the crafting page on the workbench, would be fantastic.
Perhaps it could even give a use to the bookshelf, and only be available through the bookshelf. That would add extra functionality to an item which is so far both difficult to obtain, purely decorative, and not hugely popular. Then it wouldn't even junk up the interface for those who didn't want to use it!

We've already stated that the soon to be added writable in books would cover this.

That is exactly what my problem is, but I did not want to bring up such a thing for fear of ridicule. But apparently that was unnavoidable in the first place.

Actually, I beg to differ. I did not agree to having it directly put into the Writable Books. I only agreed that writing it down in a a Recipe Manual would be cool, instead of JUST having it automatically appear.
Maybe you have a basic guide and you can make more advanced guide with a crafting guide recipe.

The material in the place of the iron would give a different recipe set, to avoid overpowering the idea.

To Gain the new recipes you need to right click with it in your hand. How dose that sound I want to know what you think?

That sounds perfect! I love the tier idea. I can add that to the original post if you want. Want me to?
EDIT: By Get new recipes, did you mean unlock them to get them, and right click to show them? Or something else
I support the tiered recipe book idea. But not with "basic" and "advanced" recipes. Rather, each tier would contain a number of recipe slots, or "pages". It would thus be possible to fill up your recipe manual. In addition, each tier or recipe manual comes with, let's say 3 pre-determined free recipes that you *might* want to use as you go up in level. If you already have those recipes written in a lower-tier book, that slot becomes available for another recipe. In further addition, each tier of recipe manual would contain, for free, the recipe for the next tier of recipe manual, just in case you're dense and can't figure it out. At the final tier, there is space for every recipe in the game.

I think you are going to love my Survival Let's Play series on YouTube! It's called Spaceboot1's Garden. I make pretty things.
Oh, and "Recipe Manual" is a shitty name. Call it a Survival Manual. As in "You just washed up on the beach with nothing but the clothes on your back and a tattered old book with the words DON'T PANIC in big bold letters on the front of it. It's getting dark."

This sounds like a good idea for just pure accessibilty for newer players.
Yes wiki does have this information but anything that you have to jump out of a game in order to know how to play it, breaks immersion. Additionally this sort of addition isn't designed for anyone that is using these boards or anyone that is going to use mods, it's for your more basic players. If they find the game fun rather than frustrating then they are more likely to pass along the word that MC is a good game and recommend that their friends try it as well. Meaning more money for Notch and his development.

I agree with both of your posts. Although, I will leave Recipe Manual in the Subject, but I will mention that it will be called Survival Manual. I kinda disagree with the last part though. However, "It's Getting Dark" could be somethin that will be under the title of the book. Not the entire "You just washed up on...letters on the front of it" part. I am adding the new stuff to the original post now. :biggrin.gif:
Ruins the feel for the game imo...nothing was better than spawning on my first beach and tapping my mouse instead of holding it and thinking, "What the hell do I even do!" Finding the recipes is half the fun man.
