Very Simple.. when you make a new world it should ask "Do you want to have a permanent mode?" or something along the lines of that, and if you click yes you pick the mode and you cannot change it for that file. The reason I want this is because I (and I'm assuming I'm not the only one) have this bad habit of switching to peaceful when I see a monster I can't kill... and I absolutely hate that I do it, so I thought, why not have a way to make it so I can get extremely frustrated while still playing fair? :biggrin.gif:
Solution: Stop doing it. Be a manly man. Don't make Notch waste an hour because of you.
Haha "be a manly man." and I would, but as soon as I see a skeleton or creeper, all my manliness is lost, I freak out and go peaceful..
Not really that I'm afraid of dying, its just that a majority of the time I'm carrying something valuable on me (anything diamond or made of diamond is valuable, I've been playing since January and have found maybe 20-30 diamonds total) or I'm really far from my spawn and since I don't know how long it takes for something to despawn, I think "if i die, all my stuff will disappear."

Why? Skeletons are pretty weak, in all honesty. I normally play on hard mode (technically hardcore mode as I stop playing a game I die on) and the biggest danger I've found are sneaky creepers. The creepers you can see are cake to kill. It's the ones that dive bomb you when you're clearing a cave that starts going vertical that'll make you rather cross.

Diamonds should be rather common enough given a good branch mine at level twelve. Make sure to fully clear any cave systems you find, too, for even more diamonds!

Firstly, from what I remember, things don't just disappear after fifteen minutes: They only disappear if the chunk is active, which means you need to be within eight chunks of it, roughly. That means you'll surely be able to get your stuff back if you die.
Second, the crux of the issue. What you need to do is this: Take off all of your valuable equipment, and right as the sun is setting, run outside with leather armor and a stone sword. Stay within eyesight of your base, but don't run from enemies. You've got nothing to lose, so chase after a skeleton, take one two creepers at once, and whatnot.
Specifically, you need to get over your fear of monsters, because they aren't all that dangerous after you stop being afraid of them. Good luck, mate!

Fire And Ice
Some say the world will end in fire
Some say in ice
From what I've tasted of desire
I hold with those who favor fire
But if it had to perish twice
I think I know enough of hate
To say that for destruction ice
Is also great
And would suffice
I've got about a billion arrows and a diamond sword... but for some reason I'm never organized and my bow and sword are never on my bar...
and you guys are really bitching me out even though I'm basically for NOT being cheap here. I can see what you guys mean by "why waste his time changing it cause your a *****" blah blah but I'm sure I'm not the only one who does that...
and you guys are getting on my nerves cause you have to act like jackasses when I didn't say anything wrong, I just posted a SUGGESTION in the SUGGESTIONS forum. Why should I waste my time responding to your comments if you're just going to be jackasses about it

Thanks for not being a jerk like everyone else, haha... but skeletons are actually tough when I don't have anything to hit with, I generally have to run from them and I can't for the life of me outrun their arrows, and thanks about the despawn thing.. and you don't even know how much mining I've done, I've got about 8 different mines that are thoroughly dug out around those regions... now I've given up and I just blow massive holes with TNT
I never remember asking you to reply. So, why should you reply? I have no idea. But you did, so that's your own problem. So go ahead, call me a jackass, for I don't get into a fit when I am called one. All I did is post a SUGGESTION on what you could do to improve your situation. See? I can say I was wrongly insulted and that I did nothing wrong too.

Taking trolling to a whole new level, one post at a time.

All I was saying is that you don't have to be such a jackass about it, you're just acting like a troll and basically saying "quit being a wimp" instead, how about trying to sound smart and giving some sort of alternative...
And like I said in the original post, when you make a new world it could ask if you want that to be set, if you don't like it then you wouldn't have to set it..

Oh and I wasn't really directing that at you by the way, it was "The Wraith" and some other guy
If you can choose to go to perma-mode, why not just decide, when you create the world, to not go to peaceful at whatever cost? Both have the same effect. I have a world where I decided I will never switch to peaceful from the beginning, I haven't switched yet. No changing Minecraft is necessary.

I cannot control my cowardly habits and keep switching to peaceful whenever I see a mob. Please waste 2 hours of your life making this just for me
Thank you"
