Sorry I am bad with computer, how did caps stay on.....
ANYWAY!!! READ WHATS BELOW THIS I understand wolves are new to the game and are not fully developed. I am merely giving suggestions. I also understand it is hard to implement these things.
OUTLINE
I believe that wolves would be better companions if they had;;;;
Better Pathfinding and mobility (doors, cliffs, no pushing) A retrieval (fetch) command Barking alarm for enemies/ danger Naming/ colour color option. Attack commands General care
Sorry but this may be a tad lengthy. So if it's TL;DR, please skim.
PATHFINDING AND MOBILITY
OBVIOUSLY THIS IS A PROBLEM
Getting pushed off of cliffs, the wolves themselves falling off of cliffs, cont seem to find their way through a door (but a hole in the wall is just fine :tongue.gif:) So may times I have been running away from a creeper and the wolf spawns in front of me, hindering my gtfo of there response. I also see a problem slaughtering animals, the dog will make a straight path to the target, if it is at the bottom of a 2 block high ledge, it stands and jumps as I stare and curse at it. Doors also seem to be a problem, I have an animal spawner with a door surrounded by fencing. I go in to kill animals, I expect my dog to help. DOORS ARE A HUGE PROBLEM, BUT THEY CAN GET THROUGH A HOLE IN THE WALL JUST FINE.
My solution
Well, better pathfinding.
And maybe giving the wolves a 2 block high jump, cause dogs can jump higher than a human while running.
NO Pushing.
FETCH COMMAND
Wouldn't it be neat if your pet would bring back items from slain creatures? Yeah? Cool.
I would give the dog a five slot (non stacking) inventory which allows your pet to pick up items on the go. When you are stationary, the dog will drop the items for you to collect.
This would totally kick ass.
This would prove useful when you are shooting an enemy with a bow and there are other enemies that prevent you from collecting the dropped items.
BARKING ALARM
The dog whines when it's hurt, but other than that, it only barks.
Adding growling will not only give you another vocalization, it can alert you to danger.
Monsters make noises, but what about the silent creepersSSSsssSSSS?
Yeah, they're supposed to be the deadliest creature, but I find jockeys more terrifying. Growling can give you an indication when the creeper is 5 blocks away from you. This may also be a deterrent for said monsters.
NAMING AND COLOR COLOURING
IF YOU HAVE PETS, YOU NAME THEM.
IF YOU HAVE MULTIPLE OF ONE PET, YOU GIVE IT SOMETHING TO DISTINGUISH IT FROM THE OTHERS.
Give the dogs coloured collars, and upon taming, bring up a naming screen. The dogs name would be visible when they are sitting.
This would also totally kick ass.
Attack Commands
I know that dogs will not attack anything you hit with arrows.
This could be changed if you could make bone arrows. They would act as a homing device for the dog to attack that creature.
This is also where the fetch command would be implemented.
___Part 2
Giving your wolf a specific command.
Say you want your dog to attack one type of creature. This could also be set upon taming. When that creature is within a set number of blocks, the wolf will go and attack it. Also implementing the fetch command.
These ideas are far fetched, but they are good ones none the less.
GENERAL CARE
Give the dog a flippin' dog bowl to eat out of when it has taken damage, taking the time to hand feed it gets annoying especially when the dog will not stay still long enough to target and right click.
Simple as that.
Other ideas,
Dog houses for them to go to when in range and put into the sit command.
Electric redstone circuit fencing?

Rollback Post to RevisionRollBack
I love the sound of pork chops gently fapping upon the shore.
Wouldn't really effect me because I kill wolves on sight considering they keep killing the sheep I'm trying to farm before I can dye them a certain color, and then kill them. Sometimes when I punch them they go off the cliff and fall too their death.
When you first tame a wolf/dog. You Have a choice of Collar color and Name. If you do not enter a name it will give you a random name and with colors, the same deal.
ok might i say the if you right click the wolf then they sit down and guys just be patient notch does this thing where he get all the stuff in the game then he debugs and fixes everything just wait and notch will add these ideas to the game sorta like the spaced ladder thing he left it there forever then he fixed it just wait and hell do it and the more you beg nothing will happen
I get the feeling you don't understand the proper usage of this phrase... you used it incorrectly.
Anyway, yes wolves should be fleshed out. I like the idea of having a place-able bowl they can eat from to heal, and a fetch command would be nice. Maybe double that up as a way to sick them on monsters without hurting them first.
