light stone is point less yes i said it it is hard to get it only provide 1 more light then a torch and thats all it does provide light and look pretty, there are some times when it is the best thing you could use but not very often so why not add something to it, light switches.
so this is just and extra function to light stone no new block just more function for your buck
here's how this thing works is redstone is light stone is redstone power source
now if the light stone has a redstone wire or operable material next to it (lever, button etc.) it would turn off providing either a light of 8 or none (8 means no mobs spawn so it would be good for cosmetic apeal, while no light would be better for say dungeon rooms that you can turn the lights on and go and edit for smp challenges or something similar. but when a current is applied it turns on and gives 15 light. heres a diagram = off = on
and if used in conjunction with repeaters if timed correctly could give flickering lights or other effects for some pretty cool and crazy stuff

You just described a redstone torch. Its light level is 8. To make this, I would suggest just increasing its light level. Glowstone does need a use though.
*face palm*
the point of this isnt a new item its to make it so that if lightstone recieves a current it turns on if it doesnt it turns off if no wiring or power source are next it it will automatically turn on you guys are completley missing the point

Too complicated. Much simpler to just add glowstone to a redstone torch and use that.
if =piston, you could make the piston move up and down.
god people **** me off the point is a new use for light stone... i can have light stone any where and its a hell of a lot harder to set up some piston thing ntm more space consuming and embeded more so less light too so no thats completley off topic
what im saying is this so say you have your house and in the ceiling you have lightstone lamps then you can turn them off so it looks better its purely cosmetic... like this have redstone running through your house and have one switch
lstone anything redstone wiring

how?
if somethign is that rare/hard to get why on earth do you need to add redstone torches to it? that just adds a new block for no reason when changing 1 file can make it all work fine if you cant understand how it is supposed to work then your an idiot
[] [] = on
[] [] = off = on..
does this not make sense?

Sorry, I wasn't thinking much when I posted.
I meant to say: People will probably find it less difficult to use if it was a redstone torch that gives off more light. This would also let people have large redstone circuits that turn on and off lights for a building and does something else at the same time. (Playing music for example.) You idea would make them have two seperate redstone circuits, and some people will find that harder to do.
Basicly: Redstone torch + glowstone dust = brighter redstone torch that still works like a regular redstone torch.
Two birds with one stone instead of two birds with two stones.

Glowstone needs no new use. Just use a piston. Or a mod. OR THE SEARCH BAR!

Much simpler. Light level of 14/15, and it's toggleable using redstone wire.
