I know elevators have been suggested. I know. I KNOW.
What hasn't been suggested is this simple way of doing it.
Now that that is out of the way, here's the idea.
Elevators, would be super freakin' handy, I know, right? It's been suggested like 2305892358 times. But with the addition of powered rails, it's now a possibility.
The method would be simple. Allow powered rails to be placed on vertical surfaces, and upon a minecart touching an active rail, be pulled upward and some rate (rate is unimportant at this time).
I would now like to take this time to insult everyone who says, "It's been suggested before" for their lack of reading comprehension. As I said in bold at the top I know.
I don't think you can put rails on vertical surfaces right now (never tried).
@ Frank Craft: How would you go down? Powered off power rails on vertical surfaces would make it move down slowly rather than stop.
@PugRme It's a different take on an old suggestion given the new availability of powered rails.
Edit: @KaosRitual I do believe he said "might." I've seen a lot of posts against it, saying it's not "minecrafty." I support it, personally. I suppose this is "in lieu of," then.
