I just randomly thought of two new hostile mobs for the Nether, one in the Nether and inspired by the rock monster in the MoreCreeps and Weirdos mod(viewtopic.php?t=106950) and one in the normal world.
Rock Ghoul
Health: Normal - 18 hearts
Hard - 21 hearts
A Rock Ghoul would be about double the size of a zombie. It would look like a Left 4 Dead Tank (http://left4dead.wikia.com/wiki/The_Tank if you don't know), except made out of stone. The face would look kind of like a Pumpkin, except sadder/angrier. It would also be burning. You would get damaged by coming in contact with it, so you have to keep a slight distance from it. It would also have a special move. It will pound down the ground, which would cause you to jump off the ground if you are at least 2 blocks away from it. Since in the Nether there is a lot of lava, you may fall to you death because of this. Also, if you are next to it when it does this, it will do a lot of damage. On Normal, it will sometimes do it, and on Hard, it will do it half of the time you fight it. The point is, it's pretty hard to kill it. Another thing: being made of cobblestone, it is immune to arrows. This means that you have to fight it with either melee weapons, or a bazooka (keep reading). Here are its drops.
1. Ghoul Head (1 will drop, 25% chance)
It's...a head. Which can be used to craft three things.
a. Mob Attractor: Crafting formula, where = Ghoul head
[] []
[] []
[] []
It will be a statue, with the ghoul head on top. But, this is not the complete mob attractor. It is "uncharged". Meaning, it will not attract monsters yet. To charge it, light a fire on top of the ghoul head part with flint and steel. This will charge it. It will attract all monsters within 30 blocks of you. Wherever the face is facing, that is where the monsters will come from. But it can attract specific monsters. To make it do so, you have to right-click the statue with an item from whatever monster you want to attract. Example, if you want to attract creepers, use gunpowder on the statue. This can be used if you want more of a certain item, and can be used with a mob trap.
b. Mineral Indicator: Crafting formula, where = Ghoul Head and = Redstone Dust
or
This will indicate where a certain mineral is. Like weapons, armor, and tools, these will slowly degrade. The two versions degrade at the same rate. The difference between the two is that the cobblestone one has a small chance of exploding, with will cause two hearts of damage. Now, this device will indicate the mineral behind the block you are facing. It will exude an aura which will be the color of the mineral behind it. For example, it will glow light-blue for diamond, or red-orange for lava. It will help you mine faster.
c. Bazooka
Crafting Formula, where = Ghoul Head
[] []
This would be an upgrade to the bow and arrow, with the same power as a Diamond Sword. The bullets can be crafted like so:
[] []
[] []
[] []
This would make one bullet. Now, this weapon has one weakness. If a creeper explodes nearby, or any explosion happens near you, Your bazooka will explode, leaving only the ghoul head left.
And the other drop...
3. Cobblestone - This is what it is made out of, so...yeah.
Now for the next mob.
Angler Hole
Health: Normal - 11 hearts
Hard - 11 hearts
These would look like a block deep hole in the ground/wall. In the hole would be either iron or diamond. When you start mining the iron/diamond in the hole, the monster will jump out. The monster is a five-block high snake, and the mineral is in its mouth. The only way you can identify it is by looking carefully. It will look "shinier" than normal blocks. Like the Rock Ghoul, it has a special attack. It will sweep its body, and stretch to 7 blocks long for the duration of the attack. On Normal, it sometimes does this, and on Hard it does this half of the time. This makes it hard to hit, and easy to get hit. Now the version with the iron is slightly weaker than the one with diamond. The one with diamond has 12 hearts, instead of the normal 11. Drops are:
Diamond (1-2, 25% drop)
This monsters gets actual minerals, so when you kill it, there is a chance it will drop whatever mineral is in its mouth.
Whatever block is surrounding the mineral (Dirt, Stone, Sand, 1-3, 75% drop)
To camouflage, it looks like whatever environment it is in.
I think this may qualify as a wishlist, ergo be against the rules...
either way, the Stone Ghoul sounds like an interesting concept, but I suggest making it not on fire, so you aren't punished for trying to fight it up close, which is it's only weakness since it deflects your ranged attacks, and also because then you won't require something as ridiculous as a bazooka to be added to the game in order to hurt it.
Also, the drops made from its head make little sense and are probably overpowered; I do however think mounting its head on a stone pole in the crafting table would make a good mob repellent, which would work on some overworld mobs but maybe not Nether mobs.
The other mob looks interesting, but it seems like it could get aggravating fast.

Is it nice? Please comment :smile.gif:
