I'd like to be able to switch redstone states over long distances without redstone connection. So the redstone radio and receiver seems like a solution. The radio could be set to a frequency, probably one of ten possible settings, by right clicking and when given a redstone input, like from a button, it transmits. The redstone receiver(s) that are set to the same frequency will then tick on, providing power to adjacent redstone circuits. What distance this should function across, I leave up to the designers.
unnecessary, also that won't be possible because the other side wouldn't be rendered if its far enough. Just build something right next to it, or mine more red stone ya idiot.

Creeper Jockeys, Because Screw Your Sense of Safety
Just FYI, the entire map ISN'T rendered just because you're playing multiplayer. This is the same reason why intercontinental redstone wires don't work.
And it isn't THAT hard to dig a trench and place some wiring.
Intercontinental redstone telegraphs would be pretty awesome though.
That being said, redstone wireless has been suggested millions of times, once even just below this in the forum ranking. You don't explain the problem of channels (multiple redstone receivers/transmitters), provided a balanced crafting recipe that compensates for the inordinate amount of redstone that could be saved, the particular range of the transmitter, its size, its shape, its usage...
