With the upcoming weather update (Whenever that will be), I was thinking:
A water barrel. You'd plant it outside your house, and it would collect rain water as it rained. There would be X amount of spaces (X being whatever seems suitable) And those would be filled with water blocks. Let's take a look at how it'd be crafted: [] []
So that'd be a barrel with an opening on the top. Why this may be helpful is because it saves you a bit of time instead of running out to your local water source, and, hey, it's automatic! Leave feedback.

This idea is interesting, but most people prefer to just build a 2x2 infinite spring for water. Not knocking your idea, just saying that for things besides aesthetics, it's not that practical.
