A food pantry would be nice, It could be crafted using 2 chests and some wood or iron depending on your aesthetic preference.
You would be able to stack food, and it would have 5 slots to accomodate for pork, bread, cookies, cake, and mushroom stew.
The only problem being a way to stack the food before putting it in the pantry, and then obviously you wouldn't be able to to a stack out of the pantry and put it in 1 inventory slot.
Stacking food, no, but if it didn't stack food and if you could see the food you placed it would make an excelent aesthetic object for people making bakeries or kitchens in their worlds, crafting would probably be [] []
or if you have no iron to spare, use wood, like you said
Theres an improved version of your idea, enjoy, If you don't like that I just changed your idea, don't get mad, I just think the idea has potential, it was just planed wrong and with little detail, I could add more detail, just ask and I'll improve this comment

and this is also the sign of a bad suggestion... as there is no suggestion at all... but wait a moment... to tell you this, I have done exactly what I was criticizing!
so I suggest instead of a pantry, a type of transparent chest or (oh no, now I'm saying what's already been suggested) a shelves block to show off your items. Overall, I don't think the pantry idea is necessary. Stacking food is great, but if you could stack all your foods, you could be invincible. That's why foods can not be stacked.
... meh... someone has already said everything I just suggested... this thread doesn't need much more conversation...
