According to Wikipedia: Tempering is a heat treatment technique for metals, alloys and glass. In steels, tempering is done to "toughen" the metal by reheating and cooling the object.
Basically a hardening element (NOTE: Tempering wooden tools only creates charcoal! You can't temper flint and steel... )
I believe that tempering will help the players use less tools by helping them save their tools! Tempering may fail or succeed, if you let the tool burn for too long, it will crack and/or melt.
Tempered weapons would have a metallic gray bar over the green bar... or if the tool has been used, will go from the red end to the green end of the spectrum. This will save things for building... also a big gamble!
Punching trees?
Yeah... A Minecraft meme for years... Waking up on a strip o' land and punching trees...
My idea? Include a block modifier. I though rocks, since cavemen crafted some tools from rocks when they had no obsidian to work with. This is a basic idea

Like most redstone devices, this requires power... However, it opens a Interface which shows how much power its recieving and an empty node where you put a Power Tool. The Power Tool has 2 bars... 1 is how much durability it has, and how much power it has (Darker Red, only).

This makes a Power Drill, The ultimate mining tool! Really to tear through stone, and get obsidian. However, this tool has a very short range... tears through the block in front of you only. However, Holding it down moves the tool down and stays there until you take it off the hold button, allowing you to move forward and rip through the blocks in front of you.

This makes you a Power Saw Or Chainsaw. Like the Power Drill, except it rips through wood, but not other materials the Drill does. The Power Saw cuts through wood faster , and also has a chance to spawn more wood! "That's right! not 1 but 2!"
Also, I do not know if this idea has been used before, I only know that people may think It is unoriginal and say I've stolen it from other sources.
Simple ideas: Get fuel by destroying the environment:
Burn wood with Flint, or burn wood in furnace, you'll get charcoal coming out of the element....after 3-5 pieces of charcoal spawn, wood goes bye-bye...
Simple, yet produces a perfectly fine coal alternative. This could also make torches become a real need.

The fact that its small, basically means you can craft it in a 2x2 grid. Meaning, yes! your sick, got shrooms and a seed, just open inventory, craft and your cured nearly instantly... Brown Fungi make 4 since they are rarer than the underground Red Fungi.
The bandage will help prevent you from getting sick due to low health, can be worn as Armor temporarily... Bandages do not break, but bandages give no armor rating
Basically, every minute you haven't healed yourself lose half of a heart...
Comments obliged as always! Support is also REALLY nice!
im sorry, but did you just make a tool entirely out of rocks? no sticks for handles or anything, just a pile of rocks.
im not sure, but this tread is a meh.
4/10
Yes I just did... If you've noticed thing, cavemen didn't pick a fight with trees just to get wood, they made tools, and in case if you haven't noticed if you craft something to look like something (Axe looks roughly like an axe when you craft it). Cavemen made tools from ROCKS! Rocks can simply be a block modifier and when you punch it you get 1-2 rocks... I mean really, these aren't things your going to use forever, in fact, rocks on land are not very common, perhaps they'de be more common nearing mountainous regions!
