This will be a long and unorganized idea but I believe it will contain several new possible features. I think that health should slowly deteriorate over time, this will make eating and growing crops more of a priority than a choice. Also i think there should also be an energy bar which also deteriorates over time thus making sleep the only way to replenish your energy. Special foods like cake could restore energy and health. Campfires should be made into a item. Each player should have a heat bar as well. Furnaces and campfires could restore your heat levels. I think these features could be implemented into "survival" mode. It would add an entirely new dynamic to the game making it more challenging. Lastly i think a mode called survival pvp could be fun. Two to Four teams start at different spawn locations on a map and must survive off the land and eliminate the opposing teams. With the new health/energy/heat dynamic it would make the pvp experience more in depth. Players could level up to a point and if killed they would have to start the leveling process over again or would lose a set amount of levels. Neutral mobs could drop useful items like food or weapons and also give experience. Boss mobs could be added which would take the entire team to defeat.
A bit of an after thought... I guess it just seems like you have all of these cool things to make for example, crops, porkchops, different levels of weapons/tools, and beds, but none of them really have much effect on the gameplay from a survival stand point. I mean you cant go days without food, heat, shelter, sleep and water in a real survival scenario. With these new features it would really give these items usefulness and they would become a priority.
That's not how this game works, and it won't be added anyway. Either way, it takes more than losing health to enforce survival anyway since health always regenerates on peaceful.

I did a search under survival mode and read through a few threads. I didnt find anything, i didnt know the category i was looking for was realistic mode. Obviously the other guy who posted realistic mode didnt find anything either. Thank you and good job patroling the MC forums.. Do you get paid i wonder?
Considering the length of that guy's 1st post, he could have been typing for 5 minutes. And I don't check creation dates of threads anyway. Usually it's not necessary.
I wish that notch would make it to where you must have to eat and sleep. Like, after however many hours, you need to eat. And if you don't sleep within however many minecraft days, you either die, start losing health, and/or hallucinate. :biggrin.gif:

lol definitely. I just think the term survival is unfitting for how the mode is. Like honestly you are not surviving anything but the scary mobs. Also a death penalty would be nice, perhaps a movement speed debuff or something.
It's ok, it's just that when I see a thread created by someone with <20 posts I automatically assume they don't know what they're doing.Guess I was wrong.
