Ok so i was listining to the Shadow of the Colossus soundtrack while on the forums and had a great idea for Minecraft... Colossi! just think instead of your standered dungeon you have a 1 in 5 chance of, instead of a regular dungeon, finding a huge dungeon containing a colossus (mabey even a field out in the open with a really big one). There could be like 3 different types: a mossy stone giant zombie with fiery eyes, a giant mossy cobblestone spider and a giant mossy cobblestone skeleton with a crossbow that shoots flaming arrows. To fight them you have to press z,x,c,v,b,n,m, or whatever when prompted to jump and kill them in a short cinematic fashion (nothing to fancy mabey just showing the character stabing the colossus with his/her sword for the final time. Then after the colossus has fallen it should drop 2-5 diamonds depending on the colossi. Also notch has already made giant zombies so the combat mechanic has already been worked out some
please state your opinion and if you think that this could be the next big idea in minecraft.
this DOES NOT MEAN QUICK TIME EVENTS
Doesn't fit with minecraft at all. Play a different game if you want collosi.
Actualy i believe it fits very well in the world of minecraft because there are already dungeons and monsters. why not giants and there is gonna be dragons 2

Because Minecraft doesn't have scripted quicktime events. >_>

true but theres always a few flaws in the first formed idea
You state: You enjoy playing games with quicktime events.
I state: Quicktime events are good, but not in Minecraft.
You state: You want to play a game with quicktime events.

then i state REREAD THE DANM POST!!!
I Specificaly said at the end of my post that this does not mean any quicktime events it just says i want giant dungeons with colossi
the qucktime events were the other guys idea and i agreed but now i take that back and have figured out some of the flaws
Alright. I have. I see a reference to quick time events followed by "This does not mean quicktime events".
Unless you can fit a solid mechanic into the game to replace quick time events, don't expect to get a lot support from me.
ok thank you i will wait a few hours and repost a more clear and thought through concept for the colissi
If you don't understand, we meant DO NOT post again, as it's an unneeded addition, which will never be added. I like the idea, but it doesn't fit in as stated. Better luck next time, kiddo. Next time, make it original. Minecraft doesn't copy other games bud, Minecraft is an individual being. So read next time, get common sense it's a horrible idea.
If I recall, there weren't any quick-time events in Shadow of the Colossus; just lots of climbing and jumping that had to be performed within short periods of time. Of course, I didn't get too far into the game, so I suppose I wouldn't know...
Also, the only thing special about the giants "in-game" is that they're big; you'd probably fight them the same way you fight any other mob: Stab/shoot/punch the f**k out of it.
Besides quick-time events, there are myriad other difficulties with the implementation of colossi:
1. How are you supposed to "hide" them like dungeons? If they're too big, you'll be able to spot them a mile away.
2. In order to make the colossus feel sufficiently colossal, it would need to be at least 30-40 times the player's height (60-80 blocks). This ties into difficulty #1; the colossus would occupy nearly half (or two-thirds, if the upper limit is taken).
3. How does it move? Is it like a normal mob, who would be stopped by a two-block-high barricade (which is the most likely way it would be implemented), thus unconvincing in its "colossal-ness?" (Of course, this issue is bypassed by simply allowing the colossus to "step over" anything by making it able to move itself between any difference in height, meaning the colossus would place itself on the tallest block of an obstacle it collides with... However, this may present difficulties in gameplay balance.)
Of course, these aren't exclusive of the giant. However, the term "colossi" brings to mind something truly colossal; the giant, (a catch-all term for anything unusually larger than expected) is not, necessarily, classifiable as a colossus, and not held to the "requirements" of a colossus.

Are you always so pessimistic?
Yes, yes I am. A pessimist is always either right, or pleasantly surprised.

Egads..this is World of Warcraft meets Battlefield 1942 in a dark alley with way too much to drink and no discarded mattress nearby.

On a stick!
Did you really just say that NOT having quicktime events is a flaw?

or you can hit *edit* and change your idea right now instead of making another thread about the same thing
