Half Block changes:
Half blocks are crafted by placing three of a certain type of block into a 3x3 crafting square, and you get 3 half blocks. Makes sense, right? No. 3 halves do not equal 3 whole blocks. What I am proposing is that instead of getting 3 half blocks, you get 6 half blocks, because 6 x 0.5 = 3. Also, two half blocks placed over each other in a crafting square should make one of the corresponding block. Why is this needed, you ask? Simple, say you have 64 half blocks. Put 32 over 32, and get 32 regular blocks. Easy and convenient.
New Half Blocks and Environment Changes:
I am suggesting dirt, diamond, gold, and iron half blocks. Why? Cosmetics for fancy projects, and to help make my next idea work. Dirt half blocks could spawn in between layers dirt like this:

( Dirt half block = )
Suggestions would be good.
They aren't supposed to give you what you put into them, destroying stairs doesn't give back all the blocks. Destroying boats doesn't either. And if you destroy a pressure plate, you get nothing.

I never said anything about destroying half blocks to get what you made them with.

Woops! I messed up. I don't know what I was thinking... I support your idea of more half blocks, just not of getting 6 halfblocks instead of 3.
