Awesome mod! The music part should be easy for me, since I play flute and guitar. I like how this mod adds to the game's "fine arts" that Notch made, but never expanded on.
If this ever gets added, it will be one of the greatest additions to minecraft. SMP servers will be able to have actual libraries/museums/bands in their town. You get my full support.

can i still make regular bookshelves with the wood/book sandwhich?
Hm. Maybe. It might be kind of cool to have "Fake bookshelves", because real ones would not be able to be pushed around by pistons, as they would need tile data, like chests.

Its not a mod its a suggestion... =p

Open your eyes. In the end you will have to decide for yourself. You alone.
I think the Art of Music is kinda useless, as we already have notheblocks, Art of Music would simply discard them. Also, if you can make songs on the Music of Art, you can make songs on Note Blocks, because you need to be at least average with musicmaking. At least, to create averarge songs.
But I don't know, maybe instead of simple chords (don't know iif the name is this), little melodies with each kind of instrument, kinda like those java apps that comes with certain phones that lets you create music, maybe that way it won't discard noteblocks. I dunno...
Best friggin idea/ mod i,ve ever seen actually deserves to be on the suggestions section-Note-Damn we need more people who give possible ideas like yours.IF anyone hates this they shall be damned
I support all this, the only thing its missing is a basic drum kit or machine that just has a kick snare and hat for laying down some rhythm.. leather can be used for kick and snare and a metal for the hat
It is good to see this still alive.
I have some ideas that I think will go well.
Maps that can be posted on walls like they were a painting. taking up a 2x2 square. and you can puzzle the map pieces together and they will attach to one another
Possibly to the top surface. For the militaristic strategizing types.
Maps that can be drawn on, or typed on. Allowing you to make notes about different areas. IE "cave; leads to dungeon caution"
Books can either be typed into or drawn in with the mouse cursor. Still only one colour. Allowing you to make journals similar to leonardo da vinci
Or perhaps to be able to use a painting in the middle place when making a book. creating a 'picture book' where two pages are typed and one is a picture.
maybe a custom book requires a leather cover and binding before you can write in it. This way if you wanted to appear learned you could still make the cheap book using just the reeds. But if you wanted to be actually learned you would need to work at it.
Recipe is: (bookshelf = decoration book) (Bacon=leather)(spider=string)
The Art of Sculpting: crazy hard to code something with a true 3d profile I imagine, and most likely too intensive. But A simple version. using clay and dyes you can make
coloured clays. then using a similar palette as the painting Art
You 'paint' a sprite that will always face you. similar to how shrubbery, sapplings, long grass, reeds, dead bush, ferns work. But now it is your art.
I very much like these ideas. minecraft is a creative game after all (among other things :wink.gif: ).
I know this has probably been suggested a bunch of times before but you should change the green in the palatte recipe to yellow. and my reasoning is this:
red, green, blue (RGB) are the primary colours of the LIGHT colour system. whereas red, yellow, blue (RYB) are the primary colours of the PIGMENT colour system. paints are pigments not lights.
when you aim a green light and red light at a wall you get yellow. but when you mix red and green paints together you get brown.
you kinda get my reasoning here?
but by all means, stick with what you think works best :smile.gif:
You think in vain, my good friend. This thread, is in fact, a suggestion for arts to be added to the game, which is what this forum is for.

A mod idea by me
Sound like a good idea... but I think the current recipe for empty bookshelves in the OP is fine. I'll add something about fake bookshelves.
