...You do realize how wrong this sounds, don't you? =\
Besides that, does your jukebox need to be wired up? How does your furnace use the exact same fuel to melt metal but
lightly grill your porkchop? And how, just how, does three pieces of paper on top of each other make a book?
Minecraft is not about realism.
Well yeah, and I don't see any shrubs that are going to blow up my house either.
And actually music blocks require redstone (wiring) so it's not that far fetched. Pistons have moving parts (like rail cars but I'm not going there) and dispensers require a bow to "shoot" the item from them.
As far as managing them, no, you only add the slime when first made, thus no maintenance required.
And getting back to slimeballs and reality, they're made from the remains of a dead living block of slime, it's obviously not real. But there are elements of MC that are based on real mechanics, redstone is essentially wiring.
Once pistons are added, people will essentially be making compact TNT cannons and other very cool designs using them, the oil idea was only a suggestion to bring balance to what will "probably be" a realitivly a very powerful game block.
I will be honest with you: I thought the EXACT SAME THING when I saw this topic (although the reasoning may very well be different).

On topic: Why do the pistons need a slime ball for "oil"? If anything, I'd think they'd use a slimeball as a rubber cone/spring, with some sort of fluid to work the hydraulics of them all. Of course, they're being run off of magical redstone, so they're most likely closer to electrical linear actuators.

Fire And Ice
Some say the world will end in fire
Some say in ice
From what I've tasted of desire
I hold with those who favor fire
But if it had to perish twice
I think I know enough of hate
To say that for destruction ice
Is also great
And would suffice
Just an idea for an item that at this time has no use.

Pistons are expected to be added at somepoint in the near future.

if it keeps the same formula from the thread/mod that started it all, the formula will be:
