I think every who uses redstone wire in circuitry knows how annoying it is to keep wires from touching, so I propose a few new block types that makes making compact circuitry a bit easier. Note for images I'll use red wool for redstone and torches for redstone torches.
Linear Wire: Works exactly the same way as redstone wire, but only accepts a charge from the block directly behind it and only gives off a charge to the block directly in front of it. Facing is determined by which way the avatar is facing when he/she places it (like repeaters). Basically, this makes same-altitude adjacent wires possible.
Yields Linear Wire x3
Cross Wire: This has the same concept as the Linear Wire, but works in two different directions. Input from one side only gets output on the side opposite it. This makes crossing two same-altitude wires possible.
Yields Cross Wire x2
Charge Boost: Whatever charge it accepts in one end it output on the other end. Pretty much the same thing as a repeater but without any delay. It would make the response time in circuitry much faster. Adding two bits would go from 4-5 seconds to maybe one or 2.
Yields Charge Boost x2
Just three pretty basic blocks that can condense circuits a ton. I would love to see something like this so I can make adders and registers and such without having to spread wires out and change altitudes all the time. The response time with longer wiring would also be very nice.
"...i have an idea for a form of redstone wire (this likely has already been thought of, but i have yet to see it.)
now do not confuse this directly with the redstone dust your able to set down and use as wire, no this is different.
The crafting recipe would look something like this
=redstone dust =halfblock (just for clarification)
this would give you 3x redstone lines. these would look similar to the redstone delay/repeater in size/shape
okay now what this would be able to do is have red stone be set out like railroad tracks, but it would be different. for starters, when you right clicked on the set block, it would be able to make a 90 degree turn (first to the right) then if you right clicked it again it would make a 3 way intersection (also facing the right). clicking on it yet again would yield a four way intersection, after that it would begin to reverse (3 way intersection and 90 degree turn) except it would be facing left. What this would do is make it possible to connect the different redstone lines you might have going in a clear, reasonable, manner.
note: I would be open to the idea of this carrying less than normal redstone dust, which would mean an increase need for delay/repeaters.
Note#2: Just for clarification, these redstone lines (unless they intersected) would not effect each other.
