After watching the video about different types of weather in Minecraft, I thought it might be a good idea to add seasons.
Here's how the seasons would work:
Each season last about 10/15 Minecraft days. Winter - The first two days has snow falling all days, then snow will begin to pile everywhere except for deserts (that wouldn't make sense). Trees will be completely bare (I was thinking about just changing the leaf texture to look like bare branches during winter). Animals will be hibernating and a little harder to find.And maybe, if it's possible, you could be able to see a silhouette of Santa on his sleigh and hear him flying by on one of the later days of winter. Spring - The first two days are spent waiting for the snow to melt. On the third day, trees will have pink leaves (to look like blossoms) and flowers will grow. There will also be more animals around because they are all done hibernating. Rain is more common and wheat will grow faster. Summer - In the first two days, all the tree leaves will turn green. Rain will be a more rare occasion. Fall - In the first two days, the tree leaves turn brown and a pile of leaves will be found under most trees. These piles of leaves can be raked and added to the inventory. The leaves will have no use, but can be put in an incinerator and burned quickly.
The recipe for the rakes:
[] = Empty space = Stick = Wood/Stone/Iron/Gold/Diamond

I got the idea for fireplaces after thinking about the winter season. The player would be able to take damage from being in the cold for an entire Minecraft day. 1 day = 0 hearts (Peaceful) 1 heart (Easy) 2 hearts (Normal) 3 hearts (Hard). The only thing to keep the player safe is a fireplace. A fireplace will heat a very large area. Torches will be able to provide heat, but in a much smaller area.
The recipe for a fireplace:
[] = Empty space = Log (basically firewood) = Glass = Cobblestone
It would be activated by right-clicking with flint & steel.
This actually seems like a stupid idea, to be honest. It doesn't really fit any theme or accomplish any purpose. Rakes just makes the game more complicated, and Santa doesn't fit anything.
The santa thing would be kinda cool and worth adding, but more like just subtle jingle bell sounds and mabye a sighting.
I think notch talked about weather but not seasons. The seasons should be a a little bit more random, but other than that great idea. The rake thing is kinda a waste of space though, but mabye you can collect leaves for decoration.

Well I guess you're right, but I felt that it would be more interesting if it were like this. Santa definitely seems out of place. If he were added, it would make sense if there were Christmas trees.

So, what are your thoughts guys?
And why the hell would Santa be there?

How's that?
