Water conducts electricity right? And Notch is adding lightning, so if lightning hits water (if it will be coded to do so) it should deal damage in a 10x10 (Or less if this seems like to much) radius in the water. This would make storms more of a danger than a random weather event.
This was kinda a quickly thought up idea... but it seems like it would be a good idea... especially if lightning rods are made, it could create a mob trap maybe?
As far as the posts i've seen... not many people use boats. It would be a bit of a danger, but just like in reality... it wouldn't be a big thing to worry about... just a reason be more careful in the water.
why? lightning currently (like showed in the sneak preview) sets stuff on fire. and since water wont burn in the game it wont damage you. and if you want that shock radius you should also make it blow up small parts of the land.

I thought about it blowing up parts of the land... but lightning isn't a terra-forming event, so I didn't suggest it be.

Complaining about it helps.
This wouldn't be a danger at all. We have boats.

That's a very unreliable trap...Would be an alright affect though.
If the lightning rod idea gets added, it could affect the water, and at least make traps SLIGHTLY more effeciant
Considering that lightning is random at the moment... probably not... but water attracts electricity so it might.

0:48 is where lightning strikes some sand near Notch.
