Moving platforms are, obviously, platforms that move. They can be set to move vertically or horizontally. Would be a nice addition to your buildings and would be useful for custom maps. I imagine how to craft them is a cross of iron ingots (5 iron ingots), and redstone at the corners (4 redstone).
I say right-clicking when it's in place. But I also say that more should be added to this idea. Flesh it out. What problems could occur with such a design? And, I'd say it should be like this instead...
This means that = Redstone Dust.
Notice it forms an arrow? That's the direction it would point. There'd be arrows, ideally red ones, on what seems to be a block of iron. The arrows would point towards the direction it is set to move in.

There, a cross, but actually, that's the cube flattenned out.
Let's say that the side of this cube is its top.
If you right-click and set it so it moves upwards, then there would be an arrow, pointing up, on , , and :Red:. It would point towards the side.
What about and you say? Simple! they either show no arrow at all, or a simple dot, to indicate that it would move that way.
Right-Click the block so it switches from moving upwards to downwards, and the arrows that are pointing towards the side would flip around, 180 degrees, and point towards the side.
If you set it so it moves "forward" (towards ), then arrows would move around, and be placed on , , and :Black:. They would all point towards :White:, and, again, both and would have nothing drawn on those sides, or a dot to signify that the arrow isn't there. Something.
Ideally, you can't change the direction it is moving towards mid-way, and it needs to be powered by redstone on every block it moves, otherwise, it stops. After all, you need a way to start it and stop it. Otherwise, you might just squish yourself against a ceiling, or go high up, beyond the clouds, and get squished against the "atmosphere".
