When you left click to pick up objects from a chest for instance, if you hold down a numeric key the corresponding quantity of items is picked up. The same rule would apply when placing objects, using right click whilst holding a numerical key, the corresponding number items is placed. This method would not interfere with the current system, but could be superimposed onto the current left click, right click system.
Also adding a button that moves a crafted item from the crafting table to the first available slot in your inventory.
This, is my first post - hi everybody !
Edited: adjusted the concept, such that now it uses left click, right click.
And, unfortunately, your first idea, right of the bat, cannot work.
Why? because hitting a number key switches to that object in the shortcut bar. All, except 0, since it isn't assigned yet. So, this couldn't work, not this way.
Plus, if you pick up a stack of things, and then right-click on an empty slot, it places one item of that stack in the empty slot. You can repeat the process to add more.
Finally, you can right-click on a stack and it'll instantly divide that stack into 2. 50% being where the stack was, 50% being picked up. If it is an odd number, then it'll be divided in 2, and one of the two stacks will have the extra item.
Thanks for your response, however I believe this idea would work. When you are interacting with a chest or a crafting table pressing a numeric key does not switch items.

Maybe so, but your idea would only let you select a number of items between 1 and 10? Stacks go up to 64... what if I want 18? :tongue.gif:

I'm almost 100% positive that this have been suggested before but i'll suggest it again anyways
How about having a drop down menu, when your inventory is open (which covers everything like chests and furnaces), which lets you select how many items you want to take from a stack when you left click? Default is 64. Right-clicking would always be 50% of that, rounded up.

Wouldn't that be better?
The good thing about my system is that it would reduce a large number of unnecessary clicks, when you want a small number of items from a 64 stack, via either the right click of left click system, it will ultimately take you many more clicks to get to the desired number. Your system of a dropdown box would work, I do however stand by my system, as far as rounding goes I am looking at being very specific, reducing clicks.
Trying to get this added to the request mod shop, to point to this thread. Please show your support for this idea if you like it, it would be a simple not intrusive "fix" which would increase specificity when crafting, etc. Thanks.
