I was thinking about how it would be nice to have a quick and fun way of getting down from up high without falling to my doom and came up with this idea. Using the half block stone slabs you could craft like this...

and turn it into a slide similar to what you would see on a playground or a water park. They would have to be placed like stairs or tracks diagonally to connect into a smooth mini half-pipe. It would be fun for people to make big slides or escape slides from hideouts. Maybe you could add water flow to it and make a water slide or a log flume type ride.
While I'm not sure how it would work out (i'm a redstone noob) you could setup redstone so with the use of a switch the block would go from stairs to a slide which could result in some crazy fun house shenanigans or a good trap.
I tried searching and didn't see anything on non-water slides so if there was one my bad.
45 Degree angle ice slopes have been suggested, but this is a cool idea. Btw, you could use the diagram you just made and fill it with water :tongue.gif:

Yea I figured it had been talked about somewhere. The original idea was that you didn't necessarily need water. The water was an afterthought I had, but sounds so much more fun the more I think about it.
While it would be silly, if there was a friction effect (for the non water version) maybe it could be set so that after so many blocks you get a butt burn and loose a heart or two =D.

Great idea! I can just imagine being chased to my base by creepers, going up a staircase that just happens to have a cliff at the base of it, and flipping a switch and watching the creepers slide down to their doom. I give this a and some sliding
