here is my idea. A chameleon about the size of a chicken only shorter. They would blend into their surrounding by changing the color of there skin to whatever they are standing on. They would be slow, about 1/4 of a human speed. also their color change is rather slow.
they would only spawn on leaves :Leaves:. Like spiders they can clime on walls and change their color according to it. They would also have a very long tongue that would come out on a rare occasion as if it was trying to eat a bug.
when killed they drop chameleon hide (working title) with it you can craft chameleon armor. it is about as powerful as cow armor except it would also decrease how far enemy's will see you as if you were invisible. having a full set of chameleon armor would make you completely invisible and enemy's would never see you, but if you touch one they will alert theres and try to attack you.
a little over powered, tell me what you think
I think it would be interesting to have an "invisible block" that would be made invisible by applying "chameleon paste" to it, and it would become visible when activated with redstone, or if the layer of paste on it is destroyed.

The "Chameleon Armor" should be called Camouflage Armor, and should not provide any damage resistance but decay as fast as Leather Armor. The item dropped from the creature on death should be called something like a "Camouflage Scale." The armor pieces should each decrease the detection and chasing range of hostile mobs, but even a full set should not make you completely invisible. Also, since spiders are so huge, I think the chameleon should be a little shorter than the spider but skinnier and maybe slightly longer. Movement speed would be right around spider speed or a little more, not overly so. Health would be 10 hearts, damage about 1 heart.
I can already foresee the annoyance/rage a stealthed chameleon on top of a tree that jumps down on the unsuspecting traveler would be. Instead, I think it should be a neutral mob (only attacks if attacked first) and instead of disguising as surrounding blocks, how about disguising as a passive mob near it? This would add an element of "spy-checking," so you can't just slaughter every single cow/sheep/chicken/pig you come across without resistance. Chameleons would spawn and travel with herds of the creature they are disguised as. In order to determine if the passive mob you are looking at is/is not a spy, you would have to:
A. Attack it
B. Watch to see how long it stares at you, it will stare much longer than a passive creature and start staring from a farther distance
C. Certain behaviors of the disguise animal can't be mimicked by the chameleon: cows can't be milked, chickens can't fly, sheep can't be sheared, and pigs can't be saddled

This isn't Team Fortress 2, we don't need it. Besides, it's FAR too OP. I think that it's also unecessary anyways. You ddin't add very many details, and from what I umnderstand it's a mob that acts just like a Team Fortress 2 spy.
-It cloaks
-It transforms
-It's a pest to Tanks
-It's just annoying if you're not it.
