Yes i know, we already have fish and notch is planning to make it better. These are just some suggestions for making them better when they are improved. Apparently, notch wanted to add them as a real mob but couldn't because of lack of time. So when he dose improve them: Fish in mob form (already planned) Squid eat fish Can catch them with hands but VERY hard When you put fish (Q button) as an item in to water, it tuns back in to a mob, this would allow them as a pet and fish tanks. Different types of fish (depending on bioms) If fresh water/rives are implemented, than there should be piranhas =3 Use meet as bait? not sure about that one.

I like all of those ideas except the meat bait and the piranhas. The meat bait sounds kind of ridiculous. You could probably use something like a leer for catching fish.

The reason i put in the heal less thing was because people would use spears instead of fishing rods, unless notch makes it so that you can't use spears while swimming, and the best fish would be out in the sea. Either way the fishing rod will heal more, but i like the idea of having the different kinds of fish spawn at different areas.
For example, a good fish, maybe something like salmon, would appear away from the edges of the lake, and can only be catch-able with the fishing rod. something like tuna (couldn't think of a fish found on beaches) would heal less, but are easily caught with the spear since they are near the beach.
On the topic of bows, i wouldn't think so, since they are basically fishing rods, but harder to use, since you would have to hit the fish instead of having the fish go to the hook.

Your right. Maybe we should have a way to make a bowl that you can hold. Crafted the same as a bucket but with glass?

You can fill it with water the same as a bucket, and you can put the fish and the bowl in the crafting table to put that same type of fish into the bowl. Then you could either put it back in the crafting grid to take it out and place it into a large aquarium, or place the bowl itself as a pet fish.
