A craftable locked vault that can only be open with the combination, it would occupy a 1X1X1 square, and not be destructible.
Not destructible, but what if we place it wrong you say?
Well if you enter the combination it has to be manually locked again, whilst unlocked you can destroy it :biggrin.gif:
What about forgetting the combination? Well if you are the original owner of the block you should be able to see the combination when on the opening screen that way the combination is only really for other people.

Behold! We can have BANKS!
In that case, why have a combination at all? Why not just have vaults that are indestructible and inaccessible to anyone but the person who placed them? If you have a combination, you're inviting people to come rob you.
Because a combination could be used to allow trusted people to use the same vault as you.
A griefer could easily use this to build tons of vaults and place them in ways that would either get in the way of normal players or would allow them access to certain areas (that is, creating a door that only they could open).

everything, even dirt, is a greifer tool
Bad argument

First, this has been suggested repeatedly, and this implementation has nothing particularly new.
But so far as not a griefer object-- you try it on a server with lwc. It is a pain in the ass, because while annoying, everything can be removed within reason. What can't be gotten rid of, and is thus banned on many servers?

Obsidian and Bedrock.
Wunder[sic] why.
You can remove obsidian.
I just takes 10 seconds.
or fifty.

But you can undo the damage that griefers do with regular blocks. If they use a bunch of indestructible vaults, however, then there's nothing you can do about it. The vault is stuck there until they remove it themselves, which is highly unlikely.

I honestly cannot tell if you are just trolling or legitimately stupid.
Let's assume for the sake of argument that each chest takes a 3-digit (0-9) code. That's 1,000 basic combinations.
The OP's resource cost is tiny for building these. But I pop up five of these somewhere. Oh, derp.
1,000 possible combinations await me for five chests. Yeah, "crack the code?" You moron, if it were that easy this suggestion wouldn't have a point to begin with.
Also: Suggestions are to be made from the standpoint of a vanilla game. Otherwise, you post in mods, where lwc has this covered and as I pointed out can already be used for uberfail griefing.

I'm not stupid, or trolling.
Learn definitions please.

that's right.

what about this: gold pick mines it at obsidian rate, so 10 seconds.
Heheheh.

The only person who needs to learn definitions is yourself. "Stupid" is an apt term to categorize your two suggestions, neither of which you have refuted at all, by the way. You provided not a single rational reason for these vaults being no worse than any other block for griefing.
You then swerve into an unrelated analogy about a book. Touching, but the only thing anyone has to judge you by on these forums is the quality of your argumentation and posting.
Third, as per the Minecraft wiki, the going time for an obsidian block with a gold pick-- 50 seconds. The best time is a diamond pickaxe, at fifteen seconds.
Your proposal, one that's not even from the OP, is to enable rapid crafting of a block that is just as bad as obsidian and twice as annoying to get rid of, owing to the number of them that can be produced and the difficulties in removing them.
Bringing us again to-- what the hell is the point of a "vault" I can smash? Even if I don't get the goodies inside, if I'm gonna grief, griefers gonna' grief.
