I'm currently in an extensive cave system and I fell through the floor a couple times too many and I need a map to get out. I'm afraid to dig upwards in case I end up drowning underwater. I'm probably somewhere around level 0 as I've seen lava falls and gold and lapis lazuli ore and redstone.
Also, any way to stop the game from lagging so much? I only play single player mode and the lag is worse than when I'm playing Left 4 Dead.
If anyone wants to know, the seed for this one is "if wishes were horses." All lowercase.
Also, a map would be useful for when I finally start building something grand and need to wander away to get more obscure materials.
That's why OP was suggesting one, or I think he/she was...
Anyways, part of the fun of minecraft is that there are no maps, a compass only helps you navigate when you're on the surface, and getting lost in caves helps me discover new places in the complex

OP suggested nothing. Just said he needed a map.

If this thread were a girlfriend, it'd do everything but anal.
just dig diagonally upwards, and if you hit water, block it off, go back a few steps, turn 90degrees, and start digging up once again. You'll reach the surface pretty fast.
