A cool thing Notch and the dev team could add to the game and rename if they wanted to.
Here are the five pipe sections
G = Glass R = Red dust I = Iron ingot T = Red stone torch ( I have never made a crafting recipe with Smilies and dont want to mess this up so im useing a legend)
GRG
GRG = Red straight pipe
GRG
Producing three
Right hit would change the way it was going (front back/ left right).
GRG
RRR = Red stone cross section Pipe
GRG
Producing one
Right hit would change it to an overpass thing were two pipes would go over one a nether and one more hit
would put it back to powering 4 ways.
GGG
GRR = Red turn pipe
GRG
Producing one
Right hit would make it go from (up to left/ left to down / down to right / right to up).
Would also be needed to go form one block down to the one up (like how red dust snaps form one horizontal
plane to the next up a Z level).
GRG
I R I = Iron pipe hold up
I G I
Producing four
You would need to add this to every 15 pipe sections to hold it up in midair ( could attach to a wall the
ceiling and another pipe hold up aswell).
GGG
RTR = Red pipe torch
GGG
Producing one
Would be use to make power go further.
When in midair you need to be looking were you want to place it like puting a block on top of a torch and all
pipe can go all 3 axis for example straight pipe would go (up down/front back/left right).
The pipe could go on walls and also use a wall as a hold up.
Useing these pipes you could power two things without having to come at it form different directions even tho
they are beside one another.
It would also compact lots of things as you could have pipe in midair not needing a block under it and not
snapping to the pipe next to it ( like how rail tracks work).
You could also transmit power up and not need a torch stack also the Red stone Repeater could be held up by
the pipe to be used.
The added benefits would be out weighed by needing to have the glass and red stone and also needing to put
hold ups every 15 blocks.
Form what I know form moding you could copy the texts files for red stone dust and mod them to have a new
look and work this way .
All and all there would need to be 20 new blocks (all the ways the pipe could go in midair + the Repeater)
9 new textures for the sides of blocks (9 for ground then 9 for the walls and 9 for ceiling but it would be
the same texture just on a new side) and a lot of moding the text files and the pipes could also work with
the red dust but would need one red dust in front of a non red pipe torch (for the torch to work).

Turn; Just... draw a corner, an elbow, in your redstone dust path.
4-way; create a cross with redstone dust, simple enough.
Overpass; with dirt, or something else, create a bridge above, or below, the main redstone dust path.
I didn't quite get the point of the "hold up". Is it so the pipes can stay in mid-air and not fall? You don't need 'em since dirt (or whatever block you're using) already floats in mid-air, without support.
Redstone Torch Pipe, kinda useless, since you can just use those torches normally anyways.
I suppose that the benefit for this would be that it would allow you to have one less layer of block (the supports for redstone). However, there's an interesting mod, which I forget what it is called, but it's basically wireless redstone technology. Look it up.

well the point of all this was to make you not need to space out red dust and not need the leyer of support and to not need thoch sacks, so you got the main point.

Actually, no. I can't get the main point, because I can't tell what you're saying.
ENGLISH MOTHER****ER! DO YOU SPEAK IT!? (it's a quote, not a flame).
I suggest, instead of having to create these, and thus, requiring a crapload of coding, I say, you should just suggest that redstone dust can be put directly on ceilings, and walls, rather than have to be on the ground.
Granted, it's "dust" so it should fall, but if you place some redstone dust on a block, and put some more on a block that's 1 block higher, they will connect, and there will be a short path up to that higher block. So it can at least stick to walls.
Ceilings might be something else. I guess, combine it with slimeballs to have sticky redstone dust, which will adhere to ceilings and walls. There you go. No need to waste potential receipes.

well i came up with it so it would save space, go on walls and ceiling and alow you to power a 3x3 Piston wall (as you need to add the leyer of support you cant power all 9)
the way your saying fixs 2 of them but not the last and by makeing the dust more like rails the last could be done
also the ENGLISH MOTHER****ER! DO YOU SPEAK IT!?
English is my first language and im 18 years old, I also tryed to make sure as much of my spelling mistakes were taking out, as I know I cant spell worth cap, but I im guessing im just THAT BAD that you have to quote Pulp Fiction ( just pointing out I knew the moive)

Straight line; Straight redstone dust path. Obvious enough.
Turn; Just... draw a corner, an elbow, in your redstone dust path.
