What if you were walking along one day and u stumble upon a man who is traped in this world just as you are. A man who has makeshift tools and littke supplies. You (being an expert miner) donate a diamond pick or a few prokchops or other worthwhile items. You have just made a friend.
Ok so heres the basic Idea:
Humans spawn at a rate of .1-.25 per chunk or so (about 1 human every 10-4 chunks). They have an inventory (accesable by right clicking on them). Placing a rare/expensive/useful items in thier inventory will befriend them (much like wolves) and stealing any items in the inventory will cause them to become hostile. Once befriended, they will follow you around. They will assist in any attack on any mob that you hit one time (again like wolves). They will also allow you to trade items with them.
Independance: When found in it nutral state (before befriended) a human will be equiped with 2 wood or stone tools and 1-32 of a random natualy occuring item (flint, cobblestone, dirt, coal, common ores, etc.). They are nuetral. This means they will not attack unless provoked (attacked/robbed). The damage they do depends on the item they have equiped at the time of provokation (example: if a human who has a stone sword equiped is attacked or robbed, he will likely cause several hearts of damage before you even have time to react. But a human who has a wood shovel equiped may give you more time to react). Once befriended they will have little independance. They will eat any health-restoring items in the inventory as neccicary and wander around within 10 blocks of the player. All other actions from a friendly humanoid are controled by the player.
Controling your new friend/minion:
A human will follow you arround and always stay within 10 blocks of the player. They will attack anything the player attacks or is attacked by. They will sleep in a nearby bed when the player sleeps. If you do not wish for your friend to accompany you on your travels, then you must craft a chair: [] [] []
In order to make a humanoid sit in a chair you must simply right-click on the chair when the humanoid is withing 10 blocks of the chair (with no barriers in between). Right clicking again with make them stand and continue following you. Maybe you want your friend to stand in one area and keep guard. No problem, just place a defence plate on the ground:
[] [] []
[] []
When a defence plate is placed on the ground, any humanoids within 10 blocks with stay put and defend a 15-block diameter around the defence plate.
What if i want him to mine along my side? Well then make a mining plate:
[] [] (pickaxe)
[] []
This will cause the humanoid to mine within 5 blocks of the plate, and if multiple plates are placed, the humanoid will follow the path they create, in order of placement.
Attack, defence, equipment:
A humanoid can be equiped with tools for the neccicary tasks as well as atmour and food. Humans automatically put armor on when placed in the inventory.
GUI:
When right clicked on, humans display a GUI similar to a small chest and will hold and carry anything. Weapons will be made at the primary tool when under attack or guarding a defence plate, and will be made a pickaxe when under control of a mining plate. Any other time, however, the humanoid will equip the item on the bottom left inventory space. Humanoids may also display a name once befriended.
This is mostly a suggestion for Mojang, but any modder, feel free to take up the idea! If you have any further suggestion or comment please reply!
