So I've noticed a lot, and I mean A LOT people failing to know how to engage mods into Minecraft. Which is basically why they come here and try to get Notch to do it for them. So I was think maybe adding a more "noob friendly" approach to mods.
Now lets face it, all of us have tried a MOD in on way or another. They are fun to mess around with, and have some fun, but we usually just come back to regular Minecraft.
Now what I'm thinking is creating something, similar to the Texture Pack selection Tool. Basically a tick box if you wish. A folder within the .minecraft folder, which will contain .zip files of mods. They would be easily accessible and easy to change up when needed.
This would save a lot of hassle of opening the .jar and altering required files.
Would also stop players from spamming threads asking how to incorporate mods.
pretty sure it's in the works, probably after they get more of their own content in
Yeh I was thinking about how it may be like straying to far from the original Minecraft. However, there is a Texture Pack button, so I thought why not a MOD equivalent.
I'm going to assume that means the button was also designed for mods. I MAY BE WRONG THOUGH.
I did take this into consideration, however, at the moment, you can only choose 1 Texture pack.
Only being able to pick 1 Mod to play with would be next to useless, so it'll need some sort of multiple selection tool.
EDIT: I seem to have skimmed straight past this: /viewtopic.php?f=1022&t=103763

Though, in the works, that sounds quite good.
"Mods and Texture packs"
