Hello guys! First of all I want to say sorry for my mistake in english, it's because the french is my first language.
1.The rain!
Me and my friend though about the rain in the game. When it rain, the water can be accumulate in a hole. That can be usefull when you don't have any water nearby. That should be nice.
2.The pump!
We could be able to "throw" Water somewhere. You can make waterslide with the pump. The pump will be activate whit a redstone circuit. Whe can be able to move water else were without using 26 bucket to have lake. The pump can be stronger than the flowing water to make a farm.
This is all idea I have now, but I will bring other idea soon!
Eh, all you really need is 2 buckets of water. place them in a way that you have an infinite water source, and just keep drawing water from that well you just made. Of course, with 2 buckets, it'll take forever to make a lake, but still.
And just so Antinoch knows, Notch and the gang ARE planning to get weather back in the game. Rain and snow. Even thunderstorms :biggrin.gif:
Basically, the OP wanted the rain to fill up empty holes in the ground and create a source block after a while. He also wanted a block, much like the floodgate, but that would push the water source blocks around, kind of like the pistons (which are looking like they'll also be in the vanilla game).

I support the elimination of ******** infinite water exploits. That is all.

I support the elimination of ******** infinite water exploits. That is all.
Why? There's not a whole lot you can do with water anyways. It's just convenience. And the only thing useful you can do with water to my knowledge is drowning traps and currents to carry items to you. Removing infinite water won't stop people from doing that in any way, it will just make it slightly harder, and a bit more annoying, to do so.
All removing infinite water is going to do is make people who want to build traps and pseudo-conveyor belts jobs a bit tougher. It will, in no way, better the game.

Why?
Because magically-infinite water is effectively a bug. It will improve the game by providing greater challenge and incentive to explore and/or build near reliable water sources.
If they want traps, they should work for it.
Plus, when realistic modes are added, Thirst will likely be a factor. Infinite water = instant broken mechanic.

Okay. But unless if there are also incentives for building in places that aren't close to water, than you just forced a whole lot of people who wan't to build water-based to things to live in certain areas. And considering how nearly everyone spawns near water a lot anyways, this wouldn't really be encouraging exploration.
And using the logic that having infinite water is wrong, then why do you think it is okay for people to get infinite water from the ocean, exactly?

It wouldn't force building anywhere. It's only incentive. Want incentive for building away from water? Less chance of flooding. I started a cave base near water and I'm going through hell keeping the water blocked out as I dig.
If they build far inland, exploration would be encouraged to find reliable water sources nearby.
An ocean is an ocean. A two-block hole is a two-block hole.
If they want traps, they should work for it.
Plus, when realistic modes are added, Thirst will likely be a factor. Infinite water in a two-block ditch = instant broken mechanic.
Infinite water is the same as boosters and infinte-burning logs - fun exploits, but still bugs that need to be eradicated.

Technically, if that mode was supposed to be so realistic, you wouldn't be able to remain healthy drinking ocean water anyways, but I'll ignore that.
But I dtill don't get why having a two by two hole that has infinite water is bad, but having an infinite water source hundreds of blocks wide is so much better. In all honesty, does it matter where your infinite water comes from?

Realistic to a reasonable degree. I didn't think I'd need to spell that out :sleep.gif:;
An ocean is an ocean. A 1x2 hole is a 1x2 hole.
Go fill a 1x2 hole with water and see how long it takes to empty it of liquid with a bucket.
Then do the same with the Atlantic Ocean. For all intents and purposes, the latter may as well be infinite because one human will never empty it in their lifetime.
But the former being infinite bypasses ridiculous and collides head-on with ********. It's basically a cheat code.
And for the record, I use the infinite water exploit a ton. I'm not going to neglect it while it's there. But I still want it gone.

I'm not questioning the bullshitingness (my new word of the week that I made up) of the exploit, I'm merely questioning the overall importance of it all.
My point ins't that it is or isn't realistic, my point is it really doesn't matter. You're going to get your infinite water somewhere, whether it be the Atlantic or your magic hole.

just make your 2x2 hole deeper, but still put your water source blocks only 1 block high (meaning at the very bottom) then make a staircase that will spiral around this deep 2x2 hole. It's a well. Cover the walls in cobblestone, and make a cute little wooden "roof" and posts/fences around the outside, and there you go. An explanation for "infinite" water.
Wells tend to fill up because of how the soil absorbs water. It needs to go somewhere, eventually, and drains itself in wells. Granted, it wouldn't be natural if it's deep in the desert, chunks away from oceans or rivers, but whatever. You still get an explanation as of why there's water there. And hey, it takes some time to build, and can end up being pretty.

This can tie back to that stackable food thread quite nicely.
They'll get it somewhere, same as 1000 unstackable pork if they're dedicated. But the cheaper (gameplay-wise) option should require more from the player, whether that be time lugging water back and forth, time seeking out reliable sources, constrained building areas, or time digging a channel inland for water to flow to your home.

Thanks For watching! I hope you like it.
I think what you're saying is you want rain and pumps which suck up water in one place and spit it out somewhere else.
Rain? Maybe. Lag machine.
Pumps? ...kinda useless. The hassle to make and assemble pumps is more or less the same as using buckets.
