Recently, the ability to change one's spawn point (and thus the location to which a compass points) has been added. This was a fantastic mechanic and it adds the ability to search over a map and find an area you like to set up your base, as opposed to being forced to pick somewhere very close to your natural spawn.
However, there is a problem with this update. There is no way to sleep without changing your spawn (or so I believe). This is frustrating when taking multi-day trips to far away lands, as each time you sleep your compass will no longer point towards "home"; instead it points to where you last slept.
I suggest an option in the menu where the difficulty option is accessed, which simply turns off the changing of one's spawn point. It could read "Spawn Point Setting On"/"Spawn Point Setting Off". If on, each time a player sleeps his spawn point will be reset to the spot where he slept. If off, his spawn point does not change when he sleeps.
Thats all. Its a simple fix that requires virtually no coding, and will allow our compasses to always point to exactly where we want them to.
Tl;Dr - create a button to "lock" one's current spawn point such that sleeping does not reset the spawn point.
That could work as well. It seems easier though to have a mode off or on, as each time one sleeps they would have to tell the game that they want to keep their old spawn. Personally, I want to spawn in my house, forever. As such, it would be very convenient to set my spawn in my house, then flip the mode to "off" and never touch it again. I'm sure lots of other people feel the same way.

Convenience is getting a choice each time you sleep, because a player's wishes will vary. What you want is an accommodation of laziness - it's one click per sleep, seriously.

If this thread were a girlfriend, it'd do everything but anal.
When you go out to explore, DO NOT SLEEP IN A BED! Spend the night in a crude shelter/hole if you must, and just wait. Go do something else during that 10 minutes, take a break. And when you're back, daytime! And you go out and explore further.
Also, I haven't tested it yet, but isn't breaking the bed supposed to remove the last spawn you created?
It should ask the player if they want to change their spawn, but for now you won't spawn in your bed if it's gone or blocked by another block. I haven't tested it, but I think you'll spawn in your original spawn point, not by a bed.

I believe so. Well then...
Does it? I haven't had time to check, but if it does then this thread is irrelevant.
