We should be able to smelt sandstone to make glass but instead of just regular glass it could be stronger so we don't accidentally break it or something. Maybe you guys could come up with better smelted versions of sandstones, but I think stronger glass could be good.

I'm no geologist, but sandstone is either A: Condensed Sand, or B: Rock.
If A, then it would smelt into exactly the same thing as normal sand.
If B, you wouldn't get much useful at all.

So it's durable because it's condensed, and therefore good as a building material. But if smeled it would still just turn into glass. That solves that.

This. Also, why would we do this? I mean, isn't sand like, 50 times more common than sandstone? I can't see the point of this.
