I think that there should be a more realistic mode. Even more realistic then survival. A mode thats not infinite. Such as a round planet of sorts....or a flat surface with teleports on all sides. Now it wouldnt be TO small, maybe like 100kx100k chunks or something like that would be good. With no hieght limit or an extended one atleast, and maybe add a satelite or moon at one point, but thats not all, maybe VERY interactive npcs, and limited water or more realistic water attributes, same goes with blocks, maybe be able to make entitys out of blocks, for example say you build a GIANT ship in the ocean out of blocks. You should be able to turn it into a boat or something like that. Now there would be limits and stuff like that to it. Say there must be a amount of furnaces on board filled with coal to match how big it is or say how much it "weighs". It would also need better physics with blocks haveing a weight limit or they will fall from there position without support. Stuff like that. Any one else want to add something?

Try the Planetoïds mod for stuff that's "round". As for the limited area of the world. In single player, sure. In multiplayer? No. I've seen "cities" that are so big, that span so large from the spawn point, that you'd get lost before finding any semblant of wild grass/trees/animals. Somewhere where you COULD build your own place. That means that it requires a crapload of space in multiplayer. Granted, 100K chunks square seems big, but not that much when you look at it from the perspective of a massive multiplayer server.
What do you mean by more realistic water attributes? That anything smaller than an "infinite water pond" should dry up over time? Maybe, but that would then kill every possible chance at making drowning monster traps. Not a good idea.
Have more height? Why? You want to go out into space? Okay, go ahead, build a space ladder out of wooden blocks and, what else, ladders. Learn physics. If you want to make it more realistic, you'd need incredibly huge structural supports for such a space ladder. Plus, as you go higher in altitude, you'd start running out of air, and freeze to death before you even REACH space like that.
Add a moon? Hello? Ever looked up during nighttime? There IS a moon already. If you meant a moon that can be attained, then just read the last paragraph once more.
Building giant ships? How would the game realise that you're making a giant ship? What if it's just one block to narrow, or one block too wide, or high, or long? Would it register as a ship then? It would be ridiculous to make something like that work. It would take an enormous amount of work to even begin to code that in. Forget it.
The only one that makes sense, but needs a hell of a lot more development, is the last one. I myself have posted such a suggestion before. It was mostly well-received, but I let it die, as no one payed much attention to it anyways, and I had no ultra-specific idea on how to code everything. Otherwise I'd make a mod out of it, of course.
