You know what would complete Minecraft's perfectness for me?
Items that only veteran players will be able to obtain/hold. I'm talking about items that could be removed from future single player (and maybe even SMP) worlds once the full version of Minecraft is released. These said items will give those of us who have played during the alpha and beta stages of Minecraft something to commemorate and hold on to (or not if you lose your save or lose the items). This removal of items could be applied to items that have little to no use in Minecraft, therefore making them a novelty or collector's item for veteran and future players alike.
Another way of incorporating this same idea is through holidays. Every year, make a different type of holiday event for that each holiday, that way no two Halloweens or Christmas's will be alike. Also, make the items from that past year's holiday unobtainable to players who hadn't created a world before that holiday. But note that the ways the player could obtain the items should be removed, but the items themselves should not. Take for example an Easter holiday; Easter eggs will drop on the ground for that one day, and anyone who is playing that day may participate in collecting these Easter eggs, but the following day, update Minecraft so the eggs will no longer randomly drop on the ground, therefore removing the way to collect more eggs, but not the already collected eggs.
I feel that having unobtainable, or "super rare" as future player might call them, items will keep me motivated to continuing to play Minecraft. And if I am still playing Minecraft years from now, I can look back on items that at one point existed in the beta, Minecraft's infancy, and be thankful I was able to take part in the first years.
Tell me any thoughts, objections, or suggestions you have towards this idea...
Also, one suggestion/one theme of suggestions per thread.
Yeah I realize that, but I was kind of trying to tie the two ideas in together.
I think it's technically a rule. But it's more a rule of one's benefit. It helps the poster better focus on that one topic, to flesh it out and work out any kinks.
Posting multiple topics on the same thread makes it rather difficult for the poster to defend/improve his post especially when he gets multiple posts related to the other topic.
