Below is a list of ideas for curses including the types of items it can spawn on, the name of the curse and the description of how it affects gameplay. Ive made this list because I believe curses and armor/tools as loot are insignificant and unloved with the latter being junk most of the time and much less accessible than crafting your own.
With that being said I think looted items' enchantment level should be set relative to the distance from world spawn, making the loot table a little more consistent. The formula is 2000 blocks = 2 levels, starting at 0. The chance for the loot to be cursed is equivalent to the items durability percentage.
Curses dont reveal themselves until you equip (for armor) or use (for tools) them for the first time, but cursed items are visually different from uncursed items.
[Anything] Curse of Tampering 🪄 - Enchantment costs increased for this particular item
[Any Copper Item] Curse of Tarnishing 🗽 - This item loses its durability when the player is in water or rain.
[Any Armorpiece] Curse of Totaling 💥 - all equipped armor is destroyed when this piece is destroyed
[Helmets and Chestplates] Curse of Craving 🎂 - Food points deplete faster the more food you are carrying.
[Helmets] Curse of Maddening 😵💫 - During the night you gain Strength II but cant craft anything
[Boots and Leggings] Curse of Scorching 🔥 - Crops within 1 block radius of you die and within 2 blocks radius ignite
[Any Wooden Weapon, Bows and Crossbows] Curse of Rooting 🌱 - Weapon doesnt attack when you are not standing directly on the ground.
[Swords, Axes, Spears, Bows and Tridents] Curse of Mauling - Mobs dont drop loot when killed with this weapon
[Swords, Axes and Spears] Curse of Flexing 🔫 - This weapon cannot deal critical damage
[Swords] Curse of Faltering 📉 - Weapon loses half its durability after traveling through a portal
[Axes] Curse of Peeling 🪵 - Breaking logs gives a chance to drop stripped logs instead
[Crossbows] Curse of Jamming 🔄 - random chance for ammunition to unload itself when shoot button clicked
Once equipped cursed armor is bound to you until you eat a glowberry or you die.

- ❌️ Remove Curse of Binding
- ❌️ Remove Curse of Vanishing
- 🌋 You can enchant a blast furnace with a new enchantment called "Inferno". You can smelt any cursed items in them to uncurse them, but it cracks like an anvil.
