Yes- I've seen the other suggestions regarding mud. Here's my take on it:
[*:2xcy4v3w]It would be, like lava and water, a block you can walk/swim through, however it would slow you down greatly, even more than slowsand. You drown in it twice as fast as in water.
[*:2xcy4v3w]If placed in an elevated position, it does not flow- it falls, like sand and gravel. (Wet squishing noises optional.)
[*:2xcy4v3w]If one or more sides of the mud 'block' are exposed to air, the block dries out into ordinary dirt. The more sides, the faster it dries. 1 side exposed= 8 seconds, 2 sides= 4 seconds, 3 sides = 2 seconds, 4 sides exposed= 1 second.
[*:2xcy4v3w]Can be picked up in a bucket
[*:2xcy4v3w]Can be 'crafted' by placing a dirt block (no grass) over a bucket of water.
[*:2xcy4v3w]Cannot be lit on fire with the Flint and Steel.
Optional:
[*:2xcy4v3w]Walking/swimming in mud will make your character appear dirty. (A transparent brown overlay appears on top of the parts of the character that were in mud.) Dirt will dry out and wear off over time, or can be washed off by entering (flowing) water.
[*:2xcy4v3w]Can be produced under certain circumstances (ie: when a dirt block is surrounded by (source blocks of) water on all 4 sides, it will eventually turn into a mud block after a day or two.)
Basically, Mud is a weird amalgam of a liquid (can walk/swim through it, can pick up in bucket) and solid (falls/doesn't flow, no 'source blocks').
Would occur naturally in the swamp biomes, mixed with pockets of actual water and dirt. Perhaps other places, as well, where water meets dirt. Dirt-with-grass will not turn into mud, nor can it be crafted into mud- something about the grass drinking up all the water. :-)
By that logic, no one could ever post anything again. For instance, I'm sure I've seen someone saying 'this is a repeat' before. Therefore, you shouldn't have posted what you posted. :-)
As I said, this was MY take on what mud should be. I thought the weird duality (mud having attributes of both liquids and solids) was sufficiently unique.
