I've been into redstone lately, so I decided that I would share my ideas for new redstone blocks and items.
1. Vacuum tubes.
In real life, vacuum tubes serve as amplifiers and signal changers. In Minecraft, they would do two things.
1. Amplify power
2. Make noteblocks louder
Vacuum tubes would increase the power of redstone circuitry, but they would only work with a redstone torch present. When placed next to redstone, the power of the circuitry would be multiplied by four, thus enabling redstone trails to go a lot farther without the use of repeaters. The downside would be that external power has to be present. Vacuum tubes also do not act like repeaters.
The other thing vacuum tubes do is amplify noise. When placed on the side of a note block, the sound is increased by 33 percent. Two vacuum tubes placed on the sides increase the noise by 66 percent. Three would be 100 percent. In the fourth spot, the noise would be increased to 133 percent. However, if the vacuum tube was placed on the top of the noteblock, the sound would become universal. The sound would play throughout the entire loaded chunk. In SMP, this would be useful for alarms and warnings.
This is how vacuum tubes are made:
This recipe would give you four vacuum tubes.
2. LED displays
LED blocks are blocks that change their image. In Minecraft, LEDs would have 3 possible color settings: Red, green and blue. These settings could be changed at the top of the block, similar to a repeater. LED blocks would be powered by redstone torches, either placed directly onto them, or powered in a different area. Redstone repeaters could be made to create new tickers and flashing message signs. They would be built like this:
Each recipe would give you four LED displays. The mushroom stands for redstone dust. Only one side of the block would have the LED.
3. Transmitters
Transmitters are objects that carry around currents. They must be powered by redstone to work. When a powered redstone current is touching a transmitter, it goes through the transmitter and ends up in the area where a second transmitter is. The transmitter makes long distance redstone current transfer more effective. The downside is that it is expensive to make, and transfers never work between more than two transmitters. It is crafted like this:
Each recipe gives you 2 transmitters. The mushroom stands for redstone dust.
Suggestions, comments or constructive critizism is appreciated.

The iteration of these lines brings gold;
The framing of this circle on the ground
Brings whirlwinds, tempests, thunder and lightning.
I just..can't really see any good use for these. We already have enough lights and special lights, and as for the vacuum, I think there is already a thread on them. Use the search bar. I personally think redstone has enough uses, but maybe other people think otherwise.

At a loss for words? Here's a few you can use: Welcome, to Night Vale...

The search bar is currently not working, and I looked on google for a vacuum tube suggestion. I found nothing.

I don't think that redstone has reached it's full potential yet. for instance, it doesn't have enough outputs into the physical world. Trapdoors, floodgates, pistons... all of these would make the game more interesting. Also, more inputs would give you some truly interesting circuits. light sensors, water sensors...
