Default glass type is unbreakable by contact force. standard projectiles, or fire but fragile to explosions. What if we had glass that was damageable by falling on it, flying into it, hitting it with weapons or arrows etc., as well as glass that was explosion-proof as in the case of Hypixel Bedwars?
Crafting recipes for these could include smelting glass, mixing a material in (amethyst gives you tinted glass currently) etc.
Also, redstone lamps use glowstone and redstone, maybe if you replaced the glowstone with glass it would give a 'hollow lamp' of some kind that could be e.g. filled with lava to produce light as a lava lamp, or with water as a mini aquarium for one fish.
Explosion-proof glass isn't something I agree with. If it happens, I wouldn't mind it, but I don't think it needs it at all because glass is already really good. Glass allows unobstructed sight to what is on the other side while allowing the benefits of no movement through it, and prevents most things from trying to pathfind or attack you. That's already a massive benefit. The tradeoff is already in its favor. Making it explosion-proof is a bit too good in my mind. It probably takes its fragile nature from real life, but even ignoring that, it's very good as it is.
If you want partial sight that is explosion proof, nether brick fences are the closest thing I can think of?
I would like more types of glass, but for a different reason. It'd be neat to have glass that behaved like connected textures glass does, while at the same time having normal glass with the default pane-like behavior.
I see both sides to what both of you have said honestly, and I'd like more glass types. I think frosted glass, mirror tinted glass (which would be a great opportunity to add silver into the game), or glass bricks could add some cool dimensions to builds (I mostly do creative). I think pane and slab forms of the glass should be available for all forms but glass bricks (glass bricks should only have slabs). I think things like glass blocks with lights inside should be available to make huge signs like you see above businesses, a crafting recipe could include dyes and glow dust/glow ink or torches. These could make for some really in depth creations and cool projects.
I think we should have glass and maybe coloured glass stairs and slabs. You could really create a glass house entirely that way if you wanted to. Or other structures that would require glass to be a certain way, making structures more 3D, etc.
