I think we all can agree that when stripped logs where add, it was a game changer. Not only did it add so many fun blocks to build with but it set a president for future trees to have. I think we should add a couple more.
Hollow Logs - now I know we all strive for Java to have fallen trees like bedrock and what better time to add them then doing so next to a new version of fallen trees. These would act like normal trees but trying to strip them will break them as they are very fragile. Also can be water logged and might look pretty good as a wooden cauldron.
Mossy Logs - I don’t really know how these aren’t in the game yet, they added moss that creeps up blocks and also ones that take over other ones, why not have a designated block for mossy trees. Not only would it be a hit but also be used in every wooden build.
Rotten Logs - as the pale logs come into play it gets me the idea of rotten logs which essentially just a darker less saturated version that just looks dark a dreary. Would go really good with this spooky winter drop no? Also maybe it works similarly to Copper in which it ages over time and has different states. But if it’s connected to leaves it can restore to full health unless it’s at the furtherest point.
Roots - add suspicious dirt and put it next to some trees, when mined it’s not likely to find anything useful at all but you could find roots! Which could be used in a crafting recipe to get 1 plank ooooor, it should totally be used as a consumable or a way to make one. It is used a lot as healing items in other games so it must have some magical properties.
Thin Logs - these are the size of walls but are wooden! This would make it so much fun to make builds with and the tree building community would go nuts. But it could be used as Birch trees cause that’s what the concept art looked like and I’ve wanted it ever since. They would also stay flat with the ground when placed sideways, as if effected by gravity
While I support these ideas in principle, you need to consider how they impact building, crafting, etc. For example, there is a recipe for turning 4 logs into 3 wood (bark on all sides). Would this work for hollows, I don't think so. Nor would I want rotten logs supporting my home, but as mineshaft supports, would make sense (especially if they decay to the extent gravel falls on them and replaces the block).

These all sound pretty decent, but does that also mean we'd have things like Mossy Acacia, or Rotted Dark oak? Are these all their own log types or will they just be secondary or tertiary to existing log types?

Using the ignore feature here is kinda weird.
